Slashpot,
Those Cascade Style Bonsai are really cool. I think I could make another little video using one of those as reference.
There are different ways you can achieve something like that. Maybe in a couple of days I will have the time.

One of the reasons I thought it would be a good idea to make trees in Zbrush was because you can design the tree and shape it as you want , not just generate random trees . What I mean is that you can still use Move ,Scale and Rotate a lot… I don’t think any of the fancy tree programs let you control the shapes as you can do with ZSpheres. Correct me if I am wrong. Also I think it’s good to work on a single piece of geometry, with no intersecting parts, and nice topology to sculpt details.
Making that cascade trunk shouldn’t be difficult. I would start raising the initial width , segment number ,the variation and Followfacor for the trunk to get that snake shape. But I wouldn’t be shy and just use" rotate mode "until I get the shape I want. That’s the beauty of Zbrush, we are sculpting, not just playing with sliders.
Then I would “start” on another Ztree tools to make a couple of custom branches(maybe even using L-sys), copy them and replicate them on the trunk using the pasteoriented button. I see the Branches in this tree always up and they are not affected by the trunk orientation so I will make sure the the Y-Lock is activated.
