ZTree Plugin

Yes I think it would be a wonderful idea, like that you could have both the effect of some “anti-gravity” effect - the tree growing in some direction (likely vertical), and some “attraction” - like the tree is growing trying to get sunlight. Could be very interesting to combine the two.

But, the other way, maybe it would be superfluous, as the plugin is already doing such a good job.

Again thanks for this wonderful plugin dargelos !!!

Thanks so much. Got it working. I appreciate your prompt response!

Thanks Keupon, I use Zadjustor every day…
I forgot to mention something related with the orientation. By default the vertical angle is 0, meaning that the branch will grow “upside down”… set vertical angle slider to 180 and it will grow up.
I try not to think about what’s up and what’s down in absolute terms since you can rotate everything at any moment but working with 0 as UP makes things easier.

Will ZTree be able to make a ‘Cascade’ style tree, like the bonsai trees which grow from a pot then droop down below the pot? I know I should just play with it and see, but maybe there’s a tip you know of? I imagine this would be easy with the ‘magnet’ tool you mention a couple of posts back?
Thanks again for a brilliant plug-in, one of the very best, but again, it should be built in!<script type=“text/javascript” src=“safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/5ab46d2e/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js”></script>

Slashpot,
Those Cascade Style Bonsai are really cool. I think I could make another little video using one of those as reference.
There are different ways you can achieve something like that. Maybe in a couple of days I will have the time.

One of the reasons I thought it would be a good idea to make trees in Zbrush was because you can design the tree and shape it as you want , not just generate random trees . What I mean is that you can still use Move ,Scale and Rotate a lot… I don’t think any of the fancy tree programs let you control the shapes as you can do with ZSpheres. Correct me if I am wrong. Also I think it’s good to work on a single piece of geometry, with no intersecting parts, and nice topology to sculpt details.

Making that cascade trunk shouldn’t be difficult. I would start raising the initial width , segment number ,the variation and Followfacor for the trunk to get that snake shape. But I wouldn’t be shy and just use" rotate mode "until I get the shape I want. That’s the beauty of Zbrush, we are sculpting, not just playing with sliders.
Then I would “start” on another Ztree tools to make a couple of custom branches(maybe even using L-sys), copy them and replicate them on the trunk using the pasteoriented button. I see the Branches in this tree always up and they are not affected by the trunk orientation so I will make sure the the Y-Lock is activated.

Amazing plugin dargelos!
thanks for shaing:+1:

I just just started using Vue. Can we use ztree to make items to paint with in the Vue ecosystem? I am going to be trying to figure this out sometime soon so maybe I will just ask. thanks

My shadow , you can export the trees as .obj with textures etc but the Vue ecosystem paint actually creates different trees while you paint. This is nothing like that , ZTree just help you to model detailed trees faster .You could use ztree for foreground items with the level of detail you want… Of course you can clone them many times but they would be exact replicas. If you have vue I suggest you to use vue species for background and model your own detailed trees with this plugin. Vue and plant factory are powerful but also quite expensive in my opinion. PLE versions are available.

thanks much that makes sense. :+1:

Thank you for this incredible plugin and your continuous updates & improvements.
Also love your music choice in the tutorial videos

You will post someday Fibermesh more?
In ZBrush there are very few “fibers”!
They helped me a lot to understand ofuncionamento!
Thanks again for the plugin!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1::wink:

Thanks PFC666 …I am guilty of not being here on the forum myself…mine are due to economic pressures… that’s my only excuse… But am damn glad to hear from you ! Deke

Very cool exploration of tree plugin by the way

I added some new tools and buttons,
I included a HELP button at the top of the Plugin with short descriptions of buttons and sliders.
And I also reorganized the UI so it’s a bit more rational.

thank you

very good plugin

That is just spendid, thank you very much!

Just wondering if this will still work on the latest version (at least on the 32bit flavor) ?
An awesome tool that I want to continue to play with!

Cheers,
Isaac

Seems to work somewhat on 4R7(x32). Haven’t tested too much. Tree grows upside down. Not a real problem.

Yes, it works on the new versions, 64 bit too… It always grows upside down.
And Nanomesh works incredibly well for texturing

My kinda thread thanks very much i look forward to adding this to my work flow
