ZBrush 4R7: Released!

I don’t think th reduction in price is given by Luxion. I think Pixo reduce the price for the Bridge down to $49 when you buy it now with the Keyshot4ZBrush. So you should contact Pixo and explain what happened. I’m sure they fix it for the difference in price.

Hi again Jan19,
thanks for checking your email. That confirms my mistake :rolleyes:

It’s not the money thats the issue, it’s the fact that now I know i need to purchase the bridge separately I can’t, because the site is down. Today started so well too :smiley:

thanks again.

@Jan19 - you’re really not being helpful. seems pretty clear that the real cost is $249 as it was always advertised. Since I only paid $200 i’m going to assume i missed something. I trust pixo to sort it out once the craziness dies down.

@MealeaYing:

Have a look at the attached file. Hi-DPI displays work in a number of different ways to render images. If you simply use them at their native resolution, user interface elements are usually too small for people with normal vision. So modern Mac and Windows OSes will default to use a “virtual resolution”, where UI elements are at a comfortable size. Often, this is accomplished by halving the horizontal and vertical number of pixels (in other words, quartering the actual resolution); this makes UIs and text read at comfortable size. However, the OS can render text and UI elements to this “virtual resolution” at the full resolution of the display, when an app is written to support it. In the attached image, you see some controls from C4D next to similar ones from the (still unactivated Zbrush 4R7). Believe me, it is very obvious when an app is not taking full advantage of the display.

If you don’t believe me, find someone with a retina-class display and check it out.

edit: make sure to look at the image at its full resolution to get the full effect…

Its impossible to overdose on espresso, the faster you drink it the faster you metabolize it!

@Dranix:
Thanks for clearing that up and:
Thank god for Apple!
One would hope that they would have thought of that problem and antialiased things with the video card.
They still don’t let video card manufacturers make the drivers do they?

God knows when everyone finishes their downloading, I can´t get into pixologic. I guess its being punched to death right now :frowning:

@NWoolridge:
They look the same size to me, but one is anti-aliased and the other isn’t.
I am not sure I see the problem, if its doubling the UI to make it the same same size it would be on a normal monitor, wouldn’t the videocard take care of this for you?

heh, waiting for servers to wake up so i can register! Time to read about the new features!

I’m really sorry. :confused:

It’s appears you are correct.

Bit of a mix up somewhere, in my purchase, too.

How good is KeyShot?

Hello

Moderator’s Note: The servers are currently melting under the pressure. Our IT manager is considering getting someone in to try and do a rain dance, since the fire extinguisher ran out of foam. (I’m kidding, but all I can recommend is to try later. As long as the servers are down, nobody can do anything and continuing to try only increases the stress rather than letting it abate. :))

You’re welcome, and I hope I didn’t make bad matters worse. :slight_smile:

Something’s amiss with my purchase, too, it seems – so we’re in the same boat.

Im amused that pixologic used ZBrush as a massive DDOS generator and turned it on themselves!

What is DDOS? :slight_smile:

Forgive my ignorance?

Pixologic website down due to high traffic?
Thank you for finally releasing the update Im sure the download link and your site will be back soon.

Everyone, stop using the Internet for 10 mins and let me download this thing!

Thanks, Znub. :slight_smile:

Heh, so pixo crashed their own website, guess that explains why the download link for 4r7 isn’t working :stuck_out_tongue:

Guess i’ll try again later.

Incidently, does this mean i can uninstall 4r5 and 4r6 off my system once i’ve got 4r7 in? So far i’ve just been leaving the old eversions on my system.

@MealeaYing

Yes, they are the same size. That is the point. The UI elements remain at a reasonable size.

Like I said, it is something you probably have to actually see to appreciate. It really is noticeably better.

The result is that everything on the screen looks incredibly sharp and beautiful, except for those apps that are not Hi-DPI enabled. And again, it is not a huge issue, I still love Zbrush, but it is a little surprising that it has yet to be addressed.

The issue has nothing to do with graphics card antialiasing. GFX card antialiasing is useful when trying to simulate higher resolutions on lower res displays; here the situation is the opposite: you have plenty of resolution, and you have to figure out how to map that real resolution to a lower virtual resolution.

Here’s a support note from MS about it:
