Yes, this is my feeling as well. I think they want to be absolutely sure that things will work perfect to avoid another drama. In the meantime, let’s have a cup of coffee, and give the guys some peace to make it happen.
I’m really looking forward to the ZB 3.5/Modo 401 combo whenever they come out. It’s far more important to me that they take the time to get it all right. It’s going to make for one hell of a creative outlet when all the pieces fit.
You guys realize that it may be ZBrush 4.0 we’re looking at in the future,…right?
What’s the difference? 3.5, 4, what’s in the name. In the meantime we’re not getting any younger!
Seriously though Aurick, I know we keep hounding, apologies - but is there any more news on whatever version will fix 3.12?
Just that its march now and we’re a long way away from any supposed announcements about 3.5. Its quite frustrating having ZB on the mac but not being able to get the most out of it. If nothing else I want to be able to size documents so I can paint
Thanks
Sav
In total confusion I thought my post where deleted, but this is a duplicate thread to this one, http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?p=545922#post545922
Didn’t anyone hear? Pixologic just folded and sold all their apps to Autodesk.
Of course I’m just kidding but that could happen if they don’t start taking this stuff seriously. I mean if I (A professional Illustrator) is bugged by these problems, I can only imagine how pissed I would be if I was a full time modeler or texturer, eventually I would probably use a different software package to do my work. Anyway I love Zbrush, they just have to get on the ball, give people information at least, give a status report, DO SOMETHING! I spoke to Aurick on the phone and asked about the update, the dude almost laughed at me! lol
I imagine that in his position that would be a rather difficult thing to summarize.
I dunno… a simple “we’re waaaay behind schedule, and are adding some new goodies to the mix” would placate me.
As it is, I just kind of never expect it to ever be released. It’s way past 4th quarter 2008, and 3 months intio 2009 already.
If I had to deliver a job and was this late, I’d have been fired and replaced long ago by now.
I don’t expect anything to be done yesterday, but as a paying customer, I do think we deserve a little respect to keep us a littl ein the loop on what;s going on.
With global economies they way they are,m I really wouldn;t be surprised at all to hear pixologic is either being bought out, or is closing.
Right, you’d get fired, unless there was no one else who could replace you… in which case they’d just have to wait.
This is a horrible time to sell a company. Anyone with enough money to get by, even if they eventually wanted to sell, would not sell now. They'd beef up, increase valuation, user base, and sell when the market is up. Seeing as they've been churning out updates for free for a long time, I imagine they're still doing ok selling seats. Not that I could imagine anyone ever wanting to sell zBrush in the first place??
Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait for the update as well. But the only purpose these threads have (effectually) is as a release valve.
Don’t expect to see any public apologies or policy changes unless there is a significant user base shift.
… and happy zBrushing!
I set back the deadline on my last project. Everyone was thrilled with the results of that delay. Quality can end up more important than a deadline. Especially these days, better make 'em count.
Did you set back that deadline a year? Wow you have very understanding clients
Seriously though, of course it is fair enough to not release software until it is worth releasing as the last Os X version just proved. The beta program I am on has just been severely delayed by months and rightly so because it was not ready to ship come the announced shipping date. But in their case, the users are not left in the dark so no one complained…
We’ll here we all are at the last days of the 1st quarter of 2009 and still no 3.5 or any news thereof, that we were all, once again promised… sigh.
Not even a dignified response to your paying customers… pretty damn sad. :td:
well, at least they could do it like luxology. showing every few weeks one new feature of the upcoming release… that would be cool.
Personally, right now I’d gladly settle for just a fix to the major bug on the current mac version that prevents users from exporting displacement maps. That would be more than enough to placate me for a few months while they work on the update.
Yes that would keep me happy for a long while too Derek. Also fixing the document size problems then I’d be away

Hey and along with all those happy issues wouldn’t it be nice if we could export a turntable movie at least.
They’re puting the final wraps on the product before its release. I heard from a bird that they’re just waiting for another big announcement to happen first
Another big announcement? Summer? Winter? Christmas? LOL!
