**** ZBrush 3.5 R3 for Windows Released

pixologic did very, very well on R3 and as said… just filling the gap between 3.1 and 4. As a Mayan user am no longer waiting GoZ :d but HELL YES SPOTLIGHT ROCKS!
I can see the foundation of new retopology concept in Z4! Much alike retopology in Max 2010.

WOW What a pixol world!

Just got a newsletter that said “ZBrush updated for all registered users.”

I guess that was a typo?

“…is currently available only on Windows.” (small footnote)

News for those who are waiting for 4.0 in 4.Q since three weeks…
My god - strange PR strategy

Just a few days left before the realistic end of the quarter.

Ya think we’ll see the promised update, or an announcement about the dealy till 1st quarter 2010?

A betting man would choose the later…

I thought it was a typo as well. Either that or they forgot that they have mac users as well…

Yeah, so nice to get Pixologic’s newsletter and feel dissed by them all over again. I guess I needed a booster shot. I’d almost stopped being angry at them over their horrible Mac support. I wonder if we’ll get ZB3.5 for Mac before Pixo releases 4.0 for Windows?

About support…

Hm… I also got a newsletter (dezember 2009) and it is written that 3.5R3 is a free upgrade to all registered users and currently available only on Windows.
So there`s absolutely no typo in the newsletter I have gotten.

Well, you´re right.

Mac users like me should be trained to read from bottom to the top reading Pixo announcements

You are correct however its in tiny writing and the title of the email states
“Pixologic Newsletter - ZBrush 3.5 R3 Available Now”
Now this version on pc has been available for quite a while now so its not really news therefore logically I expected it to mean that it was now available to all Pixologic customers.

It doesn’t matter to me really as I have both a pc and a mac license. Its just a little cruel in my opinion.

Mike R

Absolutely correct, but only if you see the (*) and the tiny italicized text at the bottom of the illustration. It’s almost like Pix thought “Oh, there’s Mac users, better find a subtle way to let them know they’re not invited to this party.” Or some such thing.

mykyl, Mike Rhodes: Youre entitled to your opinion, no matter if I agree or not, but its always good to read the WHOLE text. I personally don`t read just the half of a newspaper article.

Well, I cant speak for them but Im sure they dont want to bother any of the mac users. I just think there are also members who dont visit ZBC every day and for those people it`s great to get a monthly newsletter which contains the latest and most important news.

Even if they caveat the 3.5R3 update as Windows only, it doesn’t change that Mac users did not receive an ZB update within the scope of the newsletter period. Registered users did not receive an update, just registered ZB-Win users.

I am a Mac, and I paid for Zbrush, te same as a PC user. Shouldnt Mac users have the same rights to receive the product at the same time or near, or at least a date of realese? :frowning:

So do you mean you paid for a program and have not received what you paid for?

Well, I’m sure they did not intend to bother their Mac users. However, their communication regarding this is unsatisfying nonetheless.

Mac users are neither a small user group nor a small fraction of the newsletter recipients. R3 is only available for Windows as written in the small print, but what about a short outlook?

It would be easier to bear if this wouldn’t be such a great update…
Go, Santa, go…

Don’t be silly. All he asked for was a perspective, and this is what you can professionally expect.

You wouldn’t be happy either if there was no Windows release after 3 Mac releases, and you wouldn’t even have a perspective when you could use those features on your platform.

Kabe

Yes, if I buy a program at a time when a free update is announced for the next month, this promise is part of the deal. Since August I´m also waiting to get some simple things fixed. E.g. : Movie export, which is not working on Mac (and that was a part of the release I bought). Cann´t believe that that fix is a big thing compared to all the great new tools in 3.5R3…

But now, it seems not to be the right time to discuss … If something isn´t released till now, I doubt it will be in 2009. So let´s say: Happy christmas hollydays to all !

especially since it is posted the mac version was to be release late september and here we are getting to late december… and no updated ETA for Mac release. all i have been told is i can have a PC version of software for half price ? not much good unless i then buy windows and then set up a windows partition and then work between to operating systems ! Please give us a realistic update on how far away zbrush 3.5 is away for macintosh. really missing out on the great new features…

Right, that’s really the point. Giving Mac users at least some info on progress seems reasonable, acting like we don’t exist at all among ZBrush users is unacceptable.

I was fine (if a bit exasperated) with waiting, but it was the “all registered users” thing that annoyed me out of waiting mode. Painting this for Windows ZB users as an “everyone’s happy and recently updated” situation is disturbingly inaccurate. The situation is what it is, they should at least be honest about it. Own up to the situation, don’t try to sweep it under the rug, the latter is disrespectful to Mac ZB customers.

We’re about to go into holiday break, and your Mac customers still have no idea of when or even whether we’ll be receiving V3.5. We’re also getting worried you might just go ahead and release V4 for Windows users before releasing 3.5 for us. We paid to be here too, so the least you can do as the year draws to a close is give us some (honest) info about V3.5 Mac progress, and what that means with regards to V4 for everyone.

We’re respectfully waiting for ZB 3.5 for Mac. We expect to be treated with respect in return, just like your paying Windows customers. That doesn’t seem like an unreasonable expectation, and most other companies don’t consider it unreasonable to fulfill.
