I know that Mac versions of software in general take longer to make due to the OS itself I can see that they were trying to release what was completed for what platform. I know that the Maya 2010 was finished on PC before Mac and they ended up having to wait to release it all at once…but due to the demand of that app and the cost that its at, they could wait and release them on the both platforms primarily for support purposes.
In Pixologic’s defense, (this is the opinion part) I feel that they didnt want to wait and they needed to focus on one platform and get it out the door and then work on the other. I am not saying this is a good practice however, if i were with Pixologic then i would of been antsy to release something as well considering the forum posts (plus a promised announcement stating Z4 was delayed and 3.5 took its place for the time being). I still think due to what was finished and the demand of the community, they did what they thought was best this time around and released what they had so far. Pixo isnt as big of a company as Autodesk as well (just comparing).
Keep in mind i agree with the communities upset here because I want GoZ :-).
I wanted GoZ more then the new tools so I will have to wait patiently (hopefully not too long).
I just hope Pixologic can continue to produce great tools for everyone to use and to eventually work out its differences with both platforms and try there best to make everyone happy in this regard. I am sure that this uproar has brought concern to them and in the future may bring attention to such matters when they release a new product/version/etc.
The company i work for “was” interested in buying licenses for us to use in our work when GoZ was suppose to come out with 3.5 (at least thats what was understood at the time). When we found out it wasnt there…they decided to go elsewhere for tools…and then we lost the funds due to timing. Contractor work for anyone that was like “huh?”
