@Eraserhead
Yep, also here. While sculpting sometimes the ‘start-up ball’ jumps in or an older version of the sculpt.
Yes in Lightbox
…us Mac users may be wining over such a tease! but, at least we’re not spoiled brats! lol! (light hearted)…gerrr…tic…toc…tic…toc
I have just gotten home after an 8 day vacation from a place that existed in a literal wifi/internet black hole and I have only one thing to say, really…
I knew this day would come!
Soft AND Hard modeling via PRESSURE!!!
Poly groups and edge loops via PAINTING!
BOOLEAN BABY, YEAH!!!
Truth to tell ZFans, I cried. Because the level of possibility has grown more then I can calculate with the past 7 years of ZBrush experience.
.
If you only the ZBrush Converts knew how this all got started…
I will say it now as I always have and will FOREVER say again when needed:
Pixologic is, and always shall be, the definition of 3D advancement.
Is anyone out there still waiting for their upgrade?. I don’t want to bother support as I know they have other things to worry about, but seeing all this hype on R3 has made me a little impatient.
Another user returning from vacation (hi MTB !). Getting the 3.5 R3 download email while in Wales completely ruined my vacation and I demand a refund of my expenses Of course some would say simply traveling to Wales is enough to demand a refund
(Just joking, it is a lovely place and the draught ale is lovely).
There are some gorgeous new features in R3 and the program just feels tighter, thank you very much Pixologic Seems like the release you wanted to release originally.
Love the new installer and the ability to selectively install zplugins, it just feels right. Hope you continue this with future releases and maybe add some info to the installer ReadMe about there being a tutorial and whatsnew pdf in the installation folder. I am sure many people do not know about those.
The new pen brushes are very cool. So easy to spend hours sketching away and thinking “Hey, I never knew I could draw !”
The Polish brushes are excellent and I love how they function, but come on, no Danish brushes ? Sheesh !!!.
Badadum tish. Thank you, thank you ! I am here all week. Try the Zsphere II. It is uniformly excellent.
ps. Sorry to those harmed by the above. I will never again try to be funny. Promise
Hi Guys,
congratulations Pixologic team, one more impressive work!
Sorry, but where can I get the Zbrush 3.5 r3 trial?
Thanks
Alan
I’ll be damn happy when you guys release 3.5 R3 (or 4) for MAC OSX.
What’s the target date for shipping that iteration?
See you in 1.5 years for Zbrush R3 for Mac. I’ll be using Mudbox, thanks. I’ve had my fill of Pixologic’s fail communication skills. Autodesk, enjoy my money, even though you charge too much. I don’t care, at least they service the Mac community and GASP talks to us.
Have fun with Mudbox then.
should never blame Pixologic people its Apple’s fault  there are many thing Apple won’t allow, they know we are artist, but no 64 bit software support untill now, no tablet function (have to pay extra to get modify), they must have issue to work around for Mac. Charge too much? $600 per copy is not much compare how much you pay mudbox  it will come just Window eat first (that is why they use window as fat dude no?)
come on you mac users its not the end of the world we all know from previouse experiance that pixologic like to tease us all.
and at the mo all the peeps on macs can have fun with goz and those on windows have the zspheres 2 and a few others so its not all bad, not bad enough to go back to mudbox rip off rubbish.
yes pixologic dont really like to tell us when and where and what but thats part of the fun.
im sure by the end of january we will all have the goz spotlight zspheres and all of the other bell and whistles that go with zbrush 4, so untill then play with what you have got and plan for when the really good things come to mac and pc.
so macs users stop winging about only having that last update with the goz and not haveing the zspers 2 and other amasing things, and pc users stop being all high and mighty because you aint winging we will all get what is being developed these things just take time.
Try the Mudbox 2010 demo first. Unless they’ve recently patched it, the Mac version was unusable.
With just about every publishing venture besides movies, any dates announced in advance are usually wrong. Any book dealer will tell you the publishers are always wrong about their dates. This must be a really complicated project, and I can certainly understand NOT announcing a completion date before it’s actually complete.
/says the guy who has been working on illustrating a trilogy of albums that were announced by the band to come out in one year yet six years later finds himself working on the second one, much to his chagrin.
I don’t know much about Mudbox, but it looks like there is no 2.5D.
I’m most attracted to the hybrid aspect of Zbrush.
I know a lot of y’all only use it to put hi rez detail on stuff that will be used oustide zbrush, but it seems like you’re missing half of the program; the half that it was originally designed for, and the half that is still totally unique.
People brush off the 2.5D aspect. they shouldn’t. it’s huge, especially if your focus is still images rather than producing displacement maps for other renderers.
Also, with the hybrid nature, its so easy work in place with your image, without having to set up complicated 3D scense. To be able to drop in your reference and working images in the background, right behind what you’re modeling. Or to model something very simple, get it into the necessary position, then add really hi rez detail only where you need it, directly on the pixols. Then there’s Projection Master and zketchpad/PaintStop. holy moley.
Frankly, I’d given up on using 3D in my illustrations. it was too cumbersome for me. then along comes zbrush and I can actually start to use 3D again. this is HUGE for me. I’ve been making 2.5D illustrations since I was in high school. sculpting characters in sculpey, making forced perspective backgrounds that only created the scene from the right camera angle, then drawing back on top of the photo. Zbrush is like a dream come true to me, and I don’t see Mudbox or 3D Coat or any of the other apps even coming close.
frankly, I’m flabbergasted at how little love there is for the 2.5D canvas and tools there is around here.
I’m not ready to abandon ship, but I can understand Shadowdagger’s frustration. Sure, maybe Apple’s OS does present problem’s for updating but saying it’s al Apples fault is just wrong especially when other companies can release mac and windows concurrently.
Think of all of the other 3D Software companies that manage to release both mac and windows platforms at the same time. Max, Maya, Modo, Cinema 4D Lightwave, etc,. etc. etc. so WHY does Pixologic repeatedly continue to frustrate it’s customers by releasing treats like Go-Z for mac but not windows and Point Version upgrades for windows but not mac? Pixologic, I love your software, but please stop frustrating both mac and PC users and release new features and new versions of ZBrush for both mac and windows at the same time.
Releasing a feature or upgrade for one platform, while the other has to wait weeks and months IMO has to be bad for business if your customers are continually frustrated.
Agree. But once they announce the date (as Pixo did) they should keep us informed. The last word on Z4 was it will be available by Q4 (hopefully this year). This is the last info available on the topic. Is it still valid ? Will it still be Z4 ? This is a prime example of bad communication and all it takes to fix it is one simple announcement.
Another thing is “demo for mac” : that label saying “coming soon” is really getting old. Common, you can do better than that !
As stated in the first post…
- Next on line is the Mac OSX.
- Release date will be posted when it is available.
If you have a particular OSX question that is not answered by the above statements, you may post it in the Q&T forums.
Thanks, in advance, for your cooperation.
Yeah, I’ve read this info. It says nothing about Z4…as I mentioned above, the last info about Z4 is it will come by Q4. All this information is about 3.5 I assume ? And what about the Mac Demo. Will we ever see it ?
