Thanks a lot!
Oh, great Idea - I should experiment with lighter background. And yeah, agree with you - this render really reminds a pencil drawing.
I just hope to break through uncanny valley and make her more lifelike
Very very rough update. haven’t enough patience to finish the sculpt and make a good polypaint - was so excited about making some hair. Obviously there should be more hair but my PC sucks (it is already 220 000). Maybe should experiment with different densities and patches.
Don’t knock it dude, this is pretty good, and pretty cute too
I guess the real test would be using fibermesh to cover that ferret in feathers
I can’t wait to see what you do with that Centauress once you’ve finished her
Thanks a lot! Yeah, Fibermesh is awesome. It was an easy practice (took me about 30 minutes to comb the hair) so I want to try something more complex in a future. BTW I saw a good example by Daniel Bystedt who made really cool vulture with fibermesh. So looks like possibilities are almost unlimited, starting from peach fuzz and finishing by feathers.
I hope to continue working on my Centauride. Though now I’m lacking inspiration. Usually I’m not working when in bad mood since it is easy to break everything and go a wrong path.
Uploading at least something to show that I’m still alive. Decided to refresh accessory parts of her face cause I’m reusing old stuff that I made almost two years ago. So things like eyelashes and oral cavity should be remodeled. Yesterday I spent pretty much a whole working day placing eyelashes manually. By some reason my old eyelashes were made as a simple polygon stripes, causing bad shading in the end. Now I’m making them with NURBS curves. This way I will have additional flexibility. Still don’t like the idea of using fibermesh for eyelashes. And here is a new mouth interior. Still requires detailing and refining. Also, because my sculpt (girl’s body) is very dense already, I decided to make inner side of the cheek as a part of the mouth interior subtool. Otherwise it would be a waste of polygons to have pretty much non-visible mouth-bag, merged with the main subtool with 6 subdivision levels
good job
sure it will be fine
Thanks a lot for your kind words!
Before making a final render I want to create several images with simple background. So thinking about a new standing pose right now. The main issue is that because Centaur’s bony structure I cannot introduce a contrapposto. By the way it is her right front limb should be bent, but from my favorite angle of view (number four) it looks better this way.
I still might tweak her arms and hands. I’m not even sure if I accept this pose. Any thoughts?
I wonder how much female breast should be pushed forward (and to the sides) when shoulders shifted back to their extremes like in this pose. Maybe some girls here on ZBC will help me?
Finally I found some time and continuing working on her. And hell, after taking a rest I see so many mistakes here. So I did a quick posing because I was annoyed to see her in a boring default symmetrical pose. This is just a side project made for fun, final render will be completely different. This is pretty much what I can do while working simply from imagination and memory. Probably I should stop trying to be a hero and use some references instead. But actually it is very hard to find a good reference of this particular pose. Maybe I should find someone who will pose for me. I tried to do it myself in front of mirror but my body complexion is definitely far from being so delicate and tiny.
Her chest appears a bit sunken, especially with some lighting rigs. Maybe I will fix it though I kinda like it. And finally I’m really happy with the breast shape - I’m a big fan of combination of a delicate bony structure + underdeveloped pectoral muscles + convex nature of the upper breast curve (in profile view) + high nipples, accentuating breast volumes in the lower part.
For those who don’t know - she is a centaur girl. I’m typing it so people will not ask why her lower part of the body looks strange, why her waist-line is shifted etc.
Things to fix
- Correct distortions
- Too long ribcage. Also rework lower ribs and cartilages
- Give more mass to her arms
- Better interaction of body parts. Better volumes. Her right deltoid especially bugging me. I was thinking that because the strong medial axial rotation of the humerus her posterior portion of the deltoid should be stretched hence this area should be flattened. But studies in front of the mirror showed me that volumes should be different.
- Fix hands. I didn’t notice it earlier but my zsphere rig have destroyed them. So I’m redoing them from scratch. They are quite odd now, especially the left one.
- Her torso is a bit stretched. That was a pure experimentations. Doesn’t work very well, will squash it a bit.
- Her left arm and hand are too gestural. Maybe place something into her hand? A ribbon, pendant or… maybe a bra?
- My friend says this pose is uncomfortable to stay. Though this is my natural position when I’m awaiting for something. Probably relax it a bit
- Make her serratus anterior not so prominent
Any suggestions and critiques are really appreciated.
PS By some reason MA icon disappears after editing the post and now I cannot turn it back. Strange. Sorry for that.
Hey, great work! I really like the way you sculpted the body, it`s elongated but still graceful. One thing that bothers me is that the separation between the clavicular portion of the pectoralis and the clavicular portion of the deltoid (i think its called deltopectoral groove or something) is not well defined. Specially on females accentuating those planes changes - a lil bit - gives a more attractive look (in my humble opinion).
I didnt find a good ref to illustrate it but maybe this one gives an idea.
cheers!
Awesome job. Like how to get the chest, beautiful and clean lines.

Thanks a lot Just to clarify it a bit: are you talking about actual separation between two muscles (which are not very developed in my heroine) or rather a plane-change in the shoulder area made by bulging head of the humerus under the thin deltoid? In your example (which is awesome BTW) I think the second is more the truth (though because of the strange shadowing in the photo it is a bit hard to judge). Or maybe you are talking about infraclavicular fossa? Anyways, yeah, I should work more at her shoulders. I should admit that because such an extreme rotation it is quite tricky to understand the forms. Much harder compare to my previous exercise with raised arms. Everything is twisted, stretched and compressed against the body.

Aw, thank you :). I redid her breasts like 7 or 8 times before I started to like them. Still not satisfied with the visible portion of her ribs and costal cartilages. Surprisingly, it is quite easy to sculpt their actual form but much-much harder to soften them in a way they look natural. So much stuff is going on here: bones, cartilages, interlacing muscles and skin on top of it. Probably I should rework this area yet again
Finally realized what was causing her torso to look odd. I was so obsessed with an idea to make interesting posture and to accentuate her cute belly so I totally forget about bottom part of the rib-cage. Basically, when viewing from a side, costal cartilages from seven to ten aren’t protruding forward enough so they are not influencing the silhouette at all. That’s why ribs appear drawn. Definitely should fix it, though don’t overdo it since I like her abdomen a lot and still want her tummy to dictate the rhythm in this area
UPD Nope, I’m wrong again When trying to protrude belly forward, lower ribs tends to disappear (sinking in abdomen masses). Probably I should stop theorizing and try to experiment in Zbrush.

Hey!
Yeah, i was talking about the plane changes in that area and the lack of the infraclavicular fossa (thats still slightly shows up ). But also i want to add, but because shess very skinny/has undeveloped muscles, the coracoid process of the scapula actually bulges/influences the anterior part of the deltoid. Anyway, your sculpt looks awesome in either way! It
s just an option to add or not those details (except for the plane changes accentuation, that one i think it`s necessary)
Keep on the good work!
cheers!

Thanks again. I will definitely rework this area. Everything is really vague and not very defined, things like bony protrusions of the humerus and scapula should be reworked. I hope to post some updates soon (more high res and actual renders instead of screenshots)
As I promised - more high res images as turntables. Nothing special - simple light and no postprocessing. Just a quick renders to show her forms. Obviously it would be a pain to make her face to look good in every frame so I just cropped it. Today I did some fixes to the hand but it still looks odd. Sorry, Cebola, haven’t too much time to revisit her shoulders today
Image is quite compressed and downsized. Original resolution is in my Deviantart page
beautiful work, congratulations;)
i really like that torso man. skillz!
I really lik what you are doing here
Few things you have to fix, the back of the neck on teh shoulder level her spinal vertible should be sticking out, i would push her shoulders a bit forward, there is no reason for them too be so far back since it looks a bit awkward,
and there is this cavity in between the deltoid and pec muscles coming form the clavicle that is always visible unless you are really muscular, and she is too skinny to have it covered.
Overall i would push her clavicle a bit forward, her chest looks too full compared to her arms.
Beautifull girl.
Is she a Centaurette?
