updated sketchbook - still learning

hey great work with the hair, and a fine sculpt to boot…

Hello dear fellow ZBrushers

Glad to be back, had a surgery two weeks ago and had to take a little time off.:frowning:
I though I just post this one, even though it is not my creations but had learned a lot from it!
I started on Friday a tutorial from Eat3D called Character Production in ZBrush 4, a friend of mine just got the DVD via post and we decided to make that character. I really learned a lot from “Michael Pavlovich(http://www.halfchunk.com/blog/)” it, this still is a speed sculpt, wanted to learn from his workflows. Mr Pavlovich really is great instructor aswell, really cool dude. I would recommened you to buy this tutorial, really good productions workflows and he is fast like hell^^
Body was made with zspheres, took it to dynamesh sculpted on there my prototype, quick retopo over the model(well that took the longest^^) and than the final production sculpt. I still could have done a lot more on his shirts and accessories, but I didn’t want to uv the mesh because I rather do the fun part - SCULPTING :D:+1:
Still having a lot of problems with rendern and compositing, didn’t spend much time on the cloth sculpt and texturing overall. Really that tutorial was just to look at his workflows and not to exactly copy his guy.

All the best and happy sculpting,

  • Kenny

Welcome back my friend!
Tutorial is fantastic as well as your interpretation!
Hope your health improving as fast as your 3d skills))

Cheers,
Svyat

Hi Kenny,

Glad you are back and on the mend! Thanks for the heads up on this Eat 3D Tutorial! I posted elsewhere on ZB Central with no response, so it is good to know that you obviously liked it a lot! I am leaving for Tanzania in nine days and will be back early April. I plan to get a copy and see if can learn from it. It seems that 2.5D and what I do with it is not the norm here (not that I will stop doing it) ! Anyhow all the best to you my friend and be well! Cheers, David

Good job!

The most I learned for ZBrush I learned from eat3D DVDs and I would always recommend those.

@aliengraphic - Yeah thanks Chris buddy, glad to be back in action again  Great to you on my friends list!

@FairCat - Thank you so much Svyat, really also thanks for the great welcome back  How is everything going with you mate? Really appreciate your kind feedback, means a lot to me!

@chalkman - Hey David yeah that Eat3D tutorial is great mate  Wow you are going to Tansania ? Have fun buddy and be safe  Looking forward seeing your awesome artwork and maybe we can arrange one day that we can do a 3d sculpt of one your designs as a painting on my wall

@VISEone - Yeah you are definently right, these tutorials are awesome! But I also love ZBrushWorkshops, Ryan tears it up!

Here is my second attend doing a dinosaur. My reference was a velociraptor, but somehow he has the head of a bird kind of creature - just call it a hybrid raptor
Did this in college when we had a really cool zbrush mentor and we all had the task to sculpt a dinosaur. here is one interpretation
Comments and critics are more than welcome.

Its ok this guy is just the missing link between dinos and birds. Looks really cool.

@JavierHernandez - Thanks a lot mate, glad you like it and thanks for the stop by.!

Alright here is another 1hour speed sculpt and about 3hours sculpt of the whole, did it today in college the whole body.
Well I have to learn so much about Rendering and all that… but hope you like the small presentation, did also some screenies.
Comments are more than welcomed.
Best regards and happy sculpting,

Here are some more and the final one too  Hope you guys like it.

Hey Kenny!

Thought I’d just stop by and say I admire your dedication! I’m a student myself, and even though I consider myself a work-a-holic I never keep up with your paste
Your style is cool too, unique. Would be fun to crit eachothers work some time.

Best of luck with your studies.

Johan

Nice job Kenny , your getting better and better. Your persistence in getting better at Zbrush is inspiring.:+1:

awesome work KC, love the dinosaur and the last face  I can really see your improvement.

Excellent work KC, wish me could do some work together.

Hey KC, some cool stuff here. First, I’d like to really say I’m impressed with how much work you’re putting out here. A lot of people think that there is a magic button or tutorial that will teach them how to be good, but it just isn’t that way. Just like drawing, I feel like the only way to get better at Zbrush sculpting, is to just to do a lot of damn sculpts! I’m glad to see you are adopting that attitude, and I hope others starting out will follow suit.

Anyway! The head studies are looking nice. I do have some critiques for that full body sculpt, though. The pose is very stiff, and detracts from the character as a whole I think. If you have a pose in mind that you were thinking of giving him, you should really look at some similar reference for it, or even better, stand in front of a mirror and do the pose yourself. Take pictures of it and look at the pose from a few different angles and really see all of the hip/shoulder placement relationships so that you get a really awesome, dynamic pose. Either way, you’re progressing a whole lot, and I’ll keep an eye on this thread to see how you further your skills
