Topology & Flow Lab

The double rigg i have notice in exercise as well other “undiscovered” feature and i thought comes from having the same model selected in rig and topology panel also you can hide some of then in the subtool panel or just clone and delete the other.
This too many things that have been posted here is the reason that we may have a WIZARD or diagram or series of popup windows to select the options we need.I suggest you as a experimented programmer that make a workflow of all this feature, because some of then, we were thinking as our misunderstanding but not, not were misunderstanding but really feature you can obtain. Specially taking in account that when you press some button in rig or topology panel there is a lag time that we dont know if it processing or was hold!
Finally, im pretty sure those all things have been wacthed by Pixologic Team but only make “oficially” recognized those that run in a reproducible fashion.
btw this thread is a fascinating way to leaarn-experiment-read-learn and so on.

Oh, I programm delphi (Pascal) since years, but ZBrush is I think now a C+±Programm in which I have absolutely no experiences.:o

But I am not a professional in that (although I made some verrrry big programms for my own business needs).

So I think we should give this request to someone who is a experienced ZBrush-plugin-programmer.
Anyone here ?

I also wonder a little bit that we have so far nearly no comment from Pixologic-officials to what we found so far.
Feels a little bit like beeing a laboratory-rat in a pixologic-experiment.
‘How clever may they be ?’

I am trying this rigging style Using Super Average Man, and wondering if there is a way to set the Mesh Transparency? The Option is not availible (greyed out)
Sometimes i cannot see the ZSphere chain at all.

thanks!

Yes, also noticed this.

the 2004-sneak-preview showed transparency-option.
I also didn’t find it yet to work.
Sorry.

Nice to see you guys getting so much sorted out.

A few posts above you’ve stated the IK requirements. These are still zspheres, so all the rules from the ‘Eternal Thread’ apply. The real difference is that you can now apply zspheres to any mesh, but you really have to watch those base rules. Especially where you start…

In early tests I found little difference in using the new zspheres over the old, except that you can now have them separate from the mesh which certainly answers a lot of peoples wants. Especially allowing you add or delete structures.

The new structure being exploited by Rastaman, is similar to something we saw in beta and that isn’t released yet… you are getting closer. One of the issues with the ZB2 process is we kept simplifying to get better poseability and placement was crucial. We also had zspheres to keep certain things from happening…

And yes, pose at low subdivision - same as Transpose, this is the key. Way too much processing at higher subdivisions thus errors occur.

Great work by everyone involved.

Thanks for the hints, Jason.

We keep on searching, digging us deeper and deeper into the darkest edges of ZBrush3…

Nice to have a post by the maker of that great ZSphere thread: Jason Belec! Thanks for the extra inside info. :+1:

Invaluable…thanks muchly

Plakkie , change the link for rastaman’s rigged model to :

Thanks Namek, will do!

Here’s a small ZScript showing the new Crusoe feature: Topology Painting.

EDIT 05-29-07: added erasing painted topology.

Ok, the front page has been updated to include a concentrated version of Rastaman’s rigging tutorial. (Just for people who want a quick start, and to keep all techniques together on front)
I also included the Topology Painting feature by Crusoe, which is very handy.

Now it’s time to eat. This keeping up makes me hungry.

Thanks also for all the kind words by passing visitors. :+1:

Jason Belec- Good to see you here. Always informative, supportative and willing to help.

Rastaman and for those that have been using the new method, hows it holding up for range of motion with the models so far?

@ the Namek:
Correction, this .ztl isn’t mine, I think it’s from Dargelos.

@ AngelJ: it’s getting better and better by refining the rigg. With a little more work, all kind of distorsion should be avoidable, maybe except in the highest-subd-levels. But with a level 3 to 4 it works fine so far.

@ Crusoe: watched your script. Cool thing. :+1:

Is it OK for you that I integrate it in the hidden-secrets-Tut with a reference to you ?

If you mean the the topology painting script: that one I made. The technique is invented by Crusoe ofcource. Just to keep it clear, not because I am so proud about my Dog-script.

Rastaman and Dargelos. Can you explain in as few lines as possible the difference between your two rigging techniques? Just to make things clearer for me, and for the visitors. Dargelos, I removed your object link from the front page, until I’ve made a clear division between the two rigging techniques. Then I’ll make to headings and put the object under the right workflow.

OK, sorry Plakkie.:o

Just as I wrote you, things now can get a little bit confused.

So if it is OK for you, Crusoe, and you, Plakkie, I have already updated this to my hiddens-secrets-Tut with a reference to you both (Crusoe with his text as a quote, Plakkie with a link to and two screenshots from his ZScript).
But for an upload I would need your OK.

Plakkie, you have a second PM.

Text and link will follow soon.

Sure, feel free to post/use anything I post here.

Thanks, Crusoe.:+1:

I suppose Plakkie is also confident with that, so the newly updated Hidden-secrets-Tut will be uploaded in some minutes.
