Until middle of last year Jan, I still had 4r5 installed and only deleted it once I was happy with 4r6. So I would assume this time we can have both 4r6 and 4r7 installed, by choosing the Full 4r7 Install instead of upgrade 4r6 to 4r7.

If they are still on track to release 4r7 in January then I imagine that they will use the 3D Printer World Expo 2015 as the launch platform. It runs from January 29th to the 31st. It seems the logical and most probable time for it.

I hope this isn’t the case, because they said they would try to give it to us soon as they can. They should have released it Thursday the 22nd to give z brush users time to play with it before the expo…If they plan on releasing around the expo many people will skip on visiting the booth

here in italy is 1.22 pm in california are -9 hours of difference: when is morning in california we can see if the gem will release today…the last day of this week…after then we must wait next week (i hope):o

Seems like they have to release it today or Monday to give themselve time to solve the release chaos and get ready for the expo.

mah i m losing the idea that it comes today…:confused:small_orange_diamond:cry:

Jan, you should be able to have more than one version installed just keep in mind that you’ll be eating up one of your seats (I forget how many seats you get from one purchase) - and it’s the 64 bit version that will be a little buggy (if buggy at all). Regular 4r7 will hopefully be bug free.

Ok, thanks, Teyon. That’s good…well then, I’m ready to go w/4R7, any time now!

That’s what I was assuming, too, dill…until that “replace” thought struck. I’ve got one program that overwrites itself, every time an update is released.

Thanks, guys – I appreciate the reassurance. :+1:

If they decided to wait and finish the 64bit version why release the 32 at all? Are there that many people still using x86?

I believe someone said, for backup. In case the 64 bit doesn’t suit some people, they can fall back on the 32bit.

Some people make their living w/ZBrush, from what I understand, and Pixo didn’t want to leave anyone hanging.

I surely hope so! That they will release it today or…today.

Please excuse me for making post after post.

Ok…I just looked and I still have ZB 4r5 installed, too. Only thing…when I checked, 4r5 is 988 mb and 4r6 is
138 mb. So is it safe for me to uninstall ZB 4r5? Or will I lose something vital?

Any info appreciated.

My zbruhs 4r6 installer is 702 mb, so you must have an update installer only.

4R5 has things that 4R6 does not, for example on my computer when making polygroups from normals, 4R6 does it very poorly whereas 4R5 does it correctly.
Also other versions do things like negative insert meshes so that you can see what you are doing, newer versions make the insert mesh invisible making it very difficult to use.
Personally I keep old versions for these reasons, loosing good tools is no fun.

Thank you, Janvier and MealeaLing.

So probably I should leave things as they are.

I appreciate the info!

I still don’t understand the pricing for KeyShot…
I know, Im an idiot, this has been hashed out too many times to count…
When we buy the bridge do we get KeyShot?
I keep reading this and the other threads and I left wondering what the heck is going on, $995.00 is a lot to toss at a rendering engine…

I have the KeyShot demo now however and I must admit, its VERY IMPRESSIVE. ten seconds after installing it I was rendering stuff and playing with materials in ways that I simply cannot in other programs.
I was thinking it would be like Octane or Blender where everything is as horrible process of screwing with those inane nodes, its not, its actually quite awesome!

Also does the demo support GoZ? I cant find anything about that on their site so far…

OH!
And can you “bake” KeyShot renders? Someone asked me that and I have no clue…

When we buy the bridge do we get KeyShot?

This is the way I understand it – when we buy the bridge, we get a full fledged version of Keyshot. :+1:

The real deal. Only thing is, the version of Keyshot we get will only work with the bridge to Zbrush.

Which is totally ok with me.

As for your other questions, I’m not sure…

You mean, GoZ something from another program to Zbrush, then to Keyshot? I don’t see why that wouldn’t
work, but I’m not sure.

As for baking…dillster, I think, told me that Keyshot would not export maps.

I hope this helps! More than that, I hope everything I wrote is correct!

Edit: Under normal circumstances, no way would I invest in Keyshot. It’s just not practical for me to pay
that much for a render program. But with the bridge being $249 or $259, I forget which (at intro)…well, that’s almost too good a deal to pass up.

Edit II: I have the Keyshot demo, also – and my feelings about it match yours. I’m as excited about
the Keyshot deal, as I am about 4R7. Almost.

OK, maybe I got my ducks in a row now.

THAT is what I was after!
Thank you!!
$200-$300 I can see, but $900+ is a bit out there to make stuff look nice…

The GoZ question was about going right from ZBrush to the demo of KeyShot, Im having a heck of a time with things like subtools, polygroups and the like trashing UV’s and making stuff unrenderable.
GoZ would be great, but KeyShot doesn’t show up in the list of GoZable programs. What I’m getting at is if I have something in ZBrush I would like to hit GoZ and have it pop up in KeyShot like it would in other programs without having to think a lot about subtools and polygroups…
…somehow I suspect that I am describing the bridge actually!

Some forethought will be required

You are welcome. I just hope what I wrote is all “right.”

I’m at a disadvantage when it comes to the bridge part – I’ve never used the bridge from ZB to Keyshot.

The closest I’ve come is the bridge from Poser or DAZ Studio to Luxrender, via the Reality Plug In.

I’d guess the bridge is some sort of plug in like Reality, that translates ZB info to a format Keyshot reads.

At first I thought Keyshot was going to read ZB materials. Now, I’m wondering if only the Ztools will transfer, or objs,
and maybe we’ll manually apply materials in Keyshot?

Either way is good with me. I love the PBR look (that bling bling shiny look), and Keyshot is a fantastic program.

DougJones, you are funny, with your understated sense of humor.

In an effort to keep things lightened up while we wait for the official 4R7 release, I thought I would post this showing how most of us in the ZBrush community are feeling.

…at least this is how myself and a few others that I know feel about the upcoming release…

i will look in one hour (900 in san francisco:cry: but i think NOTHING today!!!

My take on it is, in regards to Keyshot and Bridge:

They are two separate things:

Keyshot - being a specially made version to be used just for Zbrush

The Bridge - Basically GoZ for Keyshot.

If you already have Keyshot you can just buy the Bridge. If you don’t have Keyshot, you can by the special version of Keyshot which will come with the Bridge at $249/$349.

Apologies, I can’t remember how much just The Bridge will cost.
