Stan the T Rex

Fantastic work! thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! Great that was spotted this stunning set of infographics.

Just awesome stuff – some of the best of it’s type I’ve seen.

Are you texturing in Zbrush also?

The realism is amazing, your attention to detail is just incredible.

Hi Jovon,

I do all of my texturing in Zbrush.

Spotlight in Zbrush is an incredibly powerful texturing tool. I use a mixture of spotlight and traditional poly painting. I combine a mix of texture alphas and masking with a little work done in photo shop directly to the texture maps.

The attention to detail you mentioned does take time and it helps to work with an art director who pushes you to what you think will be your creative limits. The art director on this project is a guy called Stefan Podorodhecki, one of a new breed of art directors who tries to fully understand and embrace all things CGI. An art director with this mind set is as important as the artist working on the project. Stef pushes me to try to go beyond just trying to trick the viewer into seeing something other than a photograph. The goal is to try to create an image that instantly draws the viewer in.

These are fab, Peter…and congrats on the well deserved Top Row!
Great work!

Peter its great to see you’ve hit the top row. I don’t think anyone can imagine the amount of creatures you’ve created and had published, as its probably somewhere in the many hundreds. Well done for displaying a different area of work to that of what may usually be found on here, and for inspiring others who may be interested in informative illustration. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what you work on next.

…pedagogic! :sunglasses:

Great stuff Peter, always great to work with an art director with an appreciation of craft - be that digital or traditional.
Bravo and congrats on the top row.:+1:

The works shown here are magnificent! Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful updates Peter:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1: Congratz on a well deserved Top Row :sunglasses:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:

Thanks so much for such kind and generous comments. The reaction to the whole Top row thing has been really cool.

Some more of the T Rex tests… Sorry traditionalists but its looking more and more like the evidence is stacking up in favour of plumage on a lot of therapods…though im still struggling to get a client to accept how fluffy these guys could have been…

Hi Zbrushers,

Just sharing some WIP on a new project. I will be passing this over to a rigger who who ā€œdo his thingā€ then pass it on to a 3DS Max user for some animation tests. The hair is there just so I had something to look at while sculpting.

I also produced the attached timelapse of my proscess…Just thought it may be of interest.
