Recreating the Vespa in Zbrush:
I originally detailed only parts of my vespa model in Zbrush, leaving the rest in Maya untouched. You can see images of that on the previous page. But when Pixologic recently asked me to submit the model to their turntable gallery (which I am in the process of doing), I had to get all of my Maya work in Zbrush, to make it look as similar as possible. To do that, I merged up the OBJ export and the ZTLs into one new ZTL. Getting the materials out was a bit trickier. I created a sphere and framed it in the center of the camera in Maya, and set my render size to 1024sq.I applied each material in my scene, 1 by 1, and rendered them on this sphere. Then I brought those images into zbrush and created a set of new materials with them, applying them 1 by 1 to each subtool. Several parts (like lights, mirrors, pads, and reflectors) had matching parts on the opposite side. Since I only detailed 1 side, I used Subtool Master to mirror my detailing over. For the Tires and reflectors specifically, I had to clone my subtool and manually move them into place to be their duplicate.
here’s to hoping that my model gets selected for the turntable gallery!

i like it. looks great.
Just for fun, I decided to make a MatCap off of the now famous Shepard Fairey “HOPE” poster of our president.
The sample image file is attached so you can make your own version.

Just found this thread, you sir are awesome, lots cool stuff , great knowlage of zbrush and maya. I m sure going to pick up something from here. Thanks
I’m working on a short film… I’ll be posting lots of in progress shots as I develop models over the next 6+ months.
This is one of the characters, #34, still very much in progress.
Here is where I’m at (still have to break up the symmetry, and add close-up detail like fur). He’s still too buff. Also, his eyes are half way closed currently to make it easier to rig, so he looks kinda old/lazy.
If you’d like to watch the animatic for the short, you can find it on Vimeo here:

It’s sweet …
Ha! That cow is awesome. Great sculpt and render.
Haha, the cow is great!
Thanks everyone!
here’s a quick turntable that I rendered out overnight. (I think he spins a little fast for how close he is to the camera, but at least you can see all sides)

This is the second character from the same animation as the cow (above). His name is Corp. Ayshire, a returning war vet, member of the 34th infantry.

nice job man, the purple heart looks great. only thing though with the uniform, the name tapes are supposed to be acu pattern as well same with the rank. and the rank is too long it should be wider and shorter. the boots are also not long enough and the wrong color. they should be desert tan, and at least a few inches longer since currently they are unauthorized lol.the shoulder sleeve insignia spot should also be longer and wider and they actually have a pocket in them. heres some ref pics for you. me and my team mates.
