Slorp's sketches

Thanks for the additional reference!

I am making a 4 1/2 minute short film and this guy is one of the characters (the cow is the other). Its about two characters heading in different directions at different points in their lives. The soldier is heading home, the cow is being transported away from his pen/home.

I did take some liberties with the clothing design, such as the fact that the uni is a bit tighter than it should be, but that will just help with the rigging. I omitted the side pockets for the same reason, I was worried about torsion when there was arm twist. I also darkened up behind the name/rank patches (which from my reference seems to be an earlier style… not contemporary) but it helps contrast for readability in the renders.

The height of the boots was tapered as well for the rig, but I am going to be going back and making them more tan. I agree, I took too much liberty in changing those up.

Thank you for your advise, very much appreciated.
(and thank you for your service)

of course, np ya know. it is your model afterall so you have that liberty to make it how you please i can understand where you are coming from, was just offering some suggestions is all and im glad you understand that. im pretty intrigued to see the final outcome of this animated short so ill be keeping an eye on your thread. great job by the way, and glad to help. and your welome xD

I got my cows all in one scene. Very basic light and composite setup (no dust or background clouds yet) and no facial controls on the cows themselves (just opened mouths and rotated eyes) but even still, I am extremely pleased with the look of this render test.

Hah, cute!

Very much like the design.

People often refer to cows as “stupid” like in “stupid cow” and such …
I disagree : cows aren’t stupid at all, I think they’re actually beautiful animals.
(It’s mostly “stupid” people who compare people to “stupid animals” IMO, but this has nothing to do with your work of course ;).)

Greets, Dominiek.

thank you both.

Its been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been working on a lot of environment elements for my forthcoming short film “Over the Horizon” (see previous characters models in earlier sections of this thread. Here’s what I’ve been working on lately using Zbrush, Maya, and Photoshop:

I made this as a Christmas gift for a friend of mine (she makes these: http://www.beastlies.com/ ). I thought I would share as I was pretty happy how it turned out.
Was about 4-5 hours in zbrush last night. My first Dynamesh only workflow too, have to say, I really love it. Didn’t do a retopo as it was just for illustration, and didn’t UV either since I rendered with BPR and kept it all in zbrush. Color is painted entirely with polypaint.

Fantastic little monster. I love it

Love it, the blue purple skin polypaint did it for me!

cool, is he experiencing his midlife crisis?
