fantastic work. being new to this kind of art. it’s a bummer to hear that someone of this quality/knowledge has a hard time finding a good gig. is the demand?
A. saturated
B. no where near it potential
wow.
could you discuss some of your render techniques?
what kind of shaders you used and what lighting set up you used as well?
thanks
this is some great work So impressive you got all this detail with out the need of a displacement map! I take my hat off to you and i will be following your progress.
Thank you all for your comments,
The shader setup on the skin was nothing unusual. No SSS just a phong shader. I have three layers of bump on the skin for different levels of detail. The reflection came from an Hdri image (this really made a difference from my previous renders).
Lighting- 1 directional light for main light source and cast shadows. Point lights to add fill light where needed. Since most of the diffuse is so dark on this character, the reflection is what really gave it form.
If you would like I can post an image of the render tree.
Hope this helps,
BB
Good work Big Bucks, and I’m glad you learnt simpler is best - somehwere, somehow you escaped the curse.
Perhaps others will observer the fundamentals that will improve their work as well.
Do everyone a favour and contribute more, in spite of a few people that should be ashamed, the rest of the forum is eager to see more of your talents.
this is one of the best work I’ve ever seen !
really amazing
congrats
This is an amazing piece of work.
A real show stopper!!!
This sets the bar to which all should aspire to.
Beautiful!

Is there a tutorial on this microbumpmapping and weightmap?
Can´t find anything about in the XSI documentation.
Amazing…
What was the render time?
And yes, please post the xsi node setup when you have time. I’m new to XSI and would love to see it.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Simply amazing work. Flawless. You deserve a big blue peter badge.

nice,
but the strong jittering effect of the bump is not really the way, cool images should be renderd like
How did he (see link) import the nurbsmodel to zbrush and painted it? Thouht it was only possible to edit polymesh in zbrush.
I also have a nurbshead that i want to import!
Is the bumpmap real geometry or just bump?

Here is the shader tree for those who are interested.
KisiKsu: Yeah the micro bump hurts the animation.
Thanks for posting Big Bucks! i’m trying to save up for the entry level XSI for my next BD, this will be a great shader to try out.
