Ron's Jewelry Sketchbook

Great work and love the detail… ZBrush should bring out a plugin (or some of the guys that can program) that one run under specific limitations of different 3D printers the danger areas are high lighted, this so that we don’t go to far, I always do and have to do a lot of fixing…

Shapeways has good software for this on their site…

But really nice this one…

Thank you for the praise~ I really like that ring and am really satisfied with it. Even if no one buys it when it’s made, I’d be fine with just keeping it for myself.

The detail on it is causing a bit of a problem in terms of I lose a lot when I decimate it down to 200k from the 20mil that all the pieces combined are.
Its actually 16 subtools all together so dynameshing them all and projecting everything then decimating as removed a good amount.
On top of that I am going to incur loss in fabrication, printing, casting, polishing. So I’m still working out how to retain all the detail. Last resort is to just cut it in half and print them separately and assemble it later.

This weeks assignment was to do something with one hinge and multiple parts. I’m still working on getting the projection down so I wont include the version thats all cut up yet but for now here are my scissors~
The blades and handles are separate pieces to be lasered together after casting.

Great stuff!
Love your style and the intricacies of your designs.

Do you have any images of your base meshes?
It would be interesting to see what you develop from.

I’m glad people like this ring~ I had a blast making it~ I don’t usually use basemeshes but this time I spent a few hours, maybe 6-8 or so, setting it up.

Here is the basemesh I made first. There are some changes made and a few parts added but this is what I started with.

Here is my newest version. I’m pretty happy with this and am going to move on to cleanup now and then prep for printing.

And for funzies~ This is my first time decorating a skull. Figure, why not right?

Out of all your amazing work this one caught my eye the most excellent work

Like the skull, a little like viva los muertos style

Thank you for the support guys~

I’ll be experimenting with skulls more after I get sick of the next method I am trying out for rings~

Hopefully this is a little easier on the eyes than my normal work. I call it the Exhibitionist because of how tall it is. This version is a fashion ring but I’m applying the method to everyday rings which I sorely need to focus on~

Masterful work on the skull
very neat scissors

Another skull! I’ve done a few other pieces all I’ll post them soon but for now may this interest you~ The mouth on the top needs a lot of work but I’m sick of looking at him for now~

Dood that bearded skull is brilliant!

Been some time since I posted my last ring! I’ve been sick but that hasn’t stopped me from working, I’ve just been really slow!

This is still a WIP but I’m really happy with it. I’m now working on everyday wear bands.

I’ll post it and the other one once they are finished~

Okay! so I finished the 2 rings in this series. I want to make more but well who knows what will happen!~ As I said before, working on daily wear rings that are interesting but comfortable and wont interfere with daily activities.

Very kool as always

Thank you Boatdudeguy~ I’m hoping those two sell well~

And I’m back~ I was really sick for awhile there but I’m feeling better and I’m working my way back into the groove~

Here is a quick skull sculpt I did to reacquaint myself with my tools and such.

Really kool

don’t know whay else I could say as I feel ive used every word I know to describe how much I enjoy your art and how its a continual inspiration
keep it up

Thank you for the continued support, I’m glad that my work can be appreciated!

And now~ What I’ve been doing recently! Two more Everyday womens bands and a set of mens everyday wear rings. I’m having a LOT of trouble with the mens designs, they look terrible to me, so any feedback/ideas are really welcome~

Those are some sick and inspiring work! Amazing! How did you apply the diagonal textures on the band in the images above? Would you mind doing a short video just showing the brushes you use to get the line quality you want etc? I’m quite new to zbrush and my brush strokes just looks so messy and takes so long even with simple detail work.

Hey~ I’m glad you like my work~

I’m actually recording a couple timelapse videos to do a breakdown of what I do to give some idea of how I get the details I do but I always record a bad design. Rather than posting everything I do like I used to I’m being a little picky now and only showing the ones I think are good (and sometimes the best of the bad in the case of mens rings for now) I’ll see if I can manage one that I don’t feel is too bad and will post it here~

Also here is what I’ve done for mens rings~ Still not completely happy but I need to pick 2 out in the end after I’m done my designs. Excuse the small size, I’m not totally ready to show em off but I figured I should post something~

Anxiously awaiting your break down videos
