Renaud Galand - Sketchbook

This w-e I was browsing my inspiration folders and came across an awesome design from Carlos huante. The little guy on the right made me smile and I decided to give him a personnal try with a quick speed sculpt/paint bust (during one little afternoon). It was very interesting to start from a very small and pretty undifined inspiration drawing and add my little touch to it.

looks cool  would be great to see all of them done

is very nice, will you model all the characters?:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

i like it, the idea of it and the look of the character.

Hi Renaud! Great sculpt & polypaint! All done on one afternoon … me = jealous… , :+1: !

nice polypaint!

I like how this character’s muscles are defined. The shapes are very stylized.

Great Job Renaud, his eyes are looking a little awkward imho.

Here’s another little sketch started from Zsphere. It’s Dominance War related, but not only. This little guy should be the “pilote” of an organic exoskeleton made from another fat demon (he removed the head and part of the chest to setup his cocktip/trone and will control the big guy using his own tendons and some chains). Brain from Pinky and Brain was also an inspiration for this little fellah

The sculpt is still very Work in progress, hopefully a polypainting and some refining should come soon

Excellent work and fantastic characters.

Hahahahah Very Nice!
I love the rhythm and flow you have going on in the shapes. Really fun guy. Would make a cool printout.

jajajaja men you are the best of best congratulations

terrific character, I love those horns a lot!

Love your work, great style! :+1:

I am amazed at how much personality comes from this character. Great job! I have no critiques, it looks perfect.

If you dont mind sharing, how did you get such nice distinct planes of the face and still have it blend and not be abrupt or sharp?

I pointed out exactly what I mean. You can see in the eye brow a nice smooth crease where the planes of the face intersect. Was this achieved using the flatten and smooth brush? I would love to know your technique if you dont mind sharing your wisdom

BEAUTIFUL work!PlanesOfFace.jpg

YONA : Thank you ! Cant’ wait for your next update !

Leshiy3d : Thank you !
roger : Thank you ! Love the Chicken Little and meet the robinson work on your website
Aberrant : Exactly what you said. I generally “draw” the line I want to keep using clay or standard brush and after that, I’m just playing with flatten tool and smooth on both side of the “edge”. I’m trying to avoid pinch as much as possible. Actually, I never use it  Flatten is the way to go :+1: Thanks.

Hi Renaud, congratulations! your works are awesome, and like the others members say, your style is great, very original!

Why do you avoid using pinch?

Yeah, why should one avoid pinch?
