Questions & Troubleshooting for ZBrush 4R5

I’ve had Cleverbridge resend your delivery emails with new download links. The emails will still say that they’re for older versions of ZBrush, but if you click the download button you’ll receive version 4R5.

If anyone else has difficulty accessing the upgrade, please submit a Support ticket. That will get you the fastest response.

Thanks!

Using ZSpheres in Sketch mode seems to have become nearly impossible with the Dynamic Brush size thing, turning it on and off seems to have no effect and I cant figure it out.
Is anyone else having this sort of trouble? I’m stuck with vast brushes and cant use the brush size slider normally or use scale to resize what I am working on (my usual method).
I don’t know how to describe what I’m seeing, its very confusing.

Cheers,
Mealea

EDIT:
I noticed that my Zsphere thing was huge so I tried using Unify on it in the Deformation pallet, no luck, brush size is still out of control so thought maybe ZBrush needed a restart, but still no luck, its still screwed up.

EDIT2:
Something else is odd, somehow or other I am also occasionally totally encasing my whole Zsphere armature in HUGE Zsketch spheres with a single click, I do not know how, if I could do it deliberately and control the size it could be a great feature but I don’t know why its happening and have no control at all.

Seems to be working here. Never used the feature too much yet. Lots to master.

Is there way to change the path for quick saves?

I dig that feature but my c: drive is a small 128gb ssd drive and quick saves are taking up to much space. I have ZB on another drive where I would prefer my quick saves to go as well.

Thank you,

It looks like this isn’t fixed yet. :frowning:

GRIN!
I know the feeling!
If its working for you that could mean its me, I’m getting weird errors about my Wacom tablet as well and its drawing upside down and backwards, something I like less then death. Updating my drivers fixed that though.

Thank you Aurick, the downloads went much faster now.

I found something out about my ZSphere problem, if I turn off Dynamic Brush size before doing anything else in ZBrush Zsketching works normally.

HOORAY!!!

Seems to me that they didn’t anticipate using Dynamic Brush Size with ZSketch because it doesn’t work very well and on occasion will even cause crashes. Like you say though, if you turn Dynamic Brush Size off before you load a ZSphere it will work normally (like it was before). Hopfully they will fix it.

Hya ZBer!
I didn’t crash much to my delight, and this fix is great if you are not in the middle of something.
The crashes in this and the last version take a lot of work to get out of and a very long time sometimes.
I need a more violent Task Manager.

this should help you out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekoYHmS-9hI

Yes I am getting this same error, going from 4R4 2 to 4R5. I tried multiple times.

Hey Shane,

On advice from Loopy I tried this and it worked for me…

"Look in your zb4r4 folder for updater.exe with todays date (ie the date you downloaded the update) and double click that.

That worked for me and it made a new folder of zb4r5 and asked me where I wanted it and then all I had to do was web activation and it is working now."

Hope it works for you too.

Hi @all

i’m using the rotobrush to create geometry on other surfaces. It’s a strange offset of the geometry when i rotate the viewport.
i’ve made 3 screenshots to show you what the problem is.

The rendering shows the same result.

One of the shifting objects

Here you can see the offset. The objects are intersecting.

Another perspective

I’m using win7 on 64 bit.
Any suggestions?

Thx!

Use transpose to move or rotate that part into place.

yes, ist one solution… but i’ve modelled this part onto the geometrie, so it was absolutly precisely on the surface. (You known what the retopo-brush does?)
The problem is: When i rotate the viewport (not the model) the mesh is rotating too and intersect the other meshes.
You can see the different positions of the mesh in the screenshots.

thanks for your answer, Doug

Maybe you need to hit CTRL+N to clear the document and redraw?

O.K. here is a video that shows the problem.

How many subtools? Maybe there’s a duplicate?

8 subtools, there are no duplicate subtools. Restart of ZBrush brings no change. I will try a reboot of the system…

Thank you, Doug Jones
