Eric,
You need to adjust the Model Opacity slider in the Image Plane>Reference Views menu.
Thanks Marcus
I found it!
Hi Marcus,
Firstly, awesome plugin. Love how u can use it on textures instead of polypainting (Only thing I hated in Spot-Light).
I just came to know about this plugin a week ago and I have been using it since then… took a while sink in though…
Ok now the thing is I used this technique with some pics of mine, the front, side, three-forth and the back references worked fine but when I tried to apply the hair texture using the same technique it didn’t work.
I was able to load the image in the background and align my model using the model opacity option, after that I cleared the background image (Ctrl + N) and went into Projection Master and then loaded the image again but this time the image plain didn’t show up. It is displayed in the tools pallete though and I am assuming that the plain gets created behind the model
Plz let me know if there is a work around for this or if u want me to elaborate or add some pics or videos…
Hi adi3199,
I’m glad you like the plugin.
It does sound as though the image is been loaded behind the model. What you can try is this:
After setting up your model but before launching Projection Master:
- Turn off Edit and Turn on Move. The Gyro will appear.
- In the Transform palette, open the Info menu. You may find it helps to dock the palette in the right or left tray so that it stays open.
- Set the Info>Z Component slider to a higher (positive) number. Something like 3000 should do it. This will move the model backwards If the model disappears you’ve gone too far.
- Turn Edit back on and launch Projection Master.
HTH,
Thanks Marcus… it works…
I kinda just moved the whole model back in the edit mode and then later just moved it back to the center…
Good, glad you got it working.
I am using OS X 10.6.8 Mac Book Pro. ZBrush 4R2. When I try to “Store a view” in Image Plane, I get an error: “ZScript Note: Interface item could not be found. Transform:Actual in… [Press,Transform:Actual]”. Not sure what I need to next. Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks,
emdee
The wrong version of Image Plane was inadvertently included in the Mac installer for 4R2. A new version will be made available just as soon as possible.
Apologies for the inconvenience,
Thanks Marcus.
An updated version of Image Plane for 4R2 Mac OSX is now available from the Download Center. After downloading, please follow these instructions:
- Use Finder to navigate to the ZBrushOSX 4R2/ZStartup/ZPlugs folder.
- Locate the ImagePlane_4_07.zsc file and delete it.
- Locate the ImagePlaneData4 folder and delete it.
To install this new version:
4. Save the downloaded file to your desktop and double-click to unzip.
5. Open the folder so you can see the contents.
6. Copy the ImagePlane_4_08.zsc file and the ImagePlaneData4 folder to the ZBrushOSX 4R2/ZStartup/ZPlugs folder.
After doing this, restart ZBrush and Image Plane should work correctly.
There is no need to update Image Plane for 4R2 on Windows.
Thanks Marcus. That was fast!
Marcus,
I can’t get this version to load images. It doesn’t work like the version for Zbrush 4. My workaround is creating my reference images in Zbrush4 and importing those into R2.

emdee,
Can you please explain what you are doing and when Image Plane fails. That way I may be able to find the problem.
Thanks,
Hi!
When I press “Store View” I get a popup saying “Zscript Note: Interface item could not be found”
Zoom:Actual
in…
[IPress,Zoom:Actual]
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Hi Marcus,
Have worked with this a little more. If i use a dynamesh project and load the reference images everything works perfectly. If I use my own ztool one of two things seems to happen: 1. when I load a reference image, my ztool disappears, the reference image does not show up and zbrush deactivates edit mode. Then when I draw, zbrush uses the ztool along the stroke. 2. Or the reference image shows up behind but does not adjust vertically or horizontally and I can not add additional views. Those seem to be the most common behaviors. I have tried this with tools created in zbrush 4 and with tools that were created in zbrush 4 and saved in zbrush r2 before reopening in r2, and ztools created entirely in r2 without any success. For now i think i can create the views I need with the dynamesh project, save it and then apply it to my ztool.

Are you using a Mac or PC? If Mac there is a new version ImagePlane_4_08.zsc that can be downloaded from the download center.
emdee
I am on a PC, Window 7 Home Edition.
nollis,
Did you install Image Plane yourself or using the ZBrush installer?
Thanks emdee,
I need to look into this but can you say how you are making your models in ZBrush - are you using primitives or zspheres?
Thanks,
These were created from imported .obj files created in Cinema 4d.
