I installed them myself.
emdee,
Ah, OK, thanks. Then it is possible that the models are either very large or very small and this is affecting things. If you look at the Tool>Preview window you’ll see. Pressing Tool>Deformation>Unify will set the model to the optimum size for ZBrush (though note that this changes the actual scale of your model).
nollis,
I think you’ve installed the wrong version. The correct version is 4.08 (hold Alt and place the cursor over the Image Plane>Load Image button to show the version installed). The version for 4R2 is included in the installer for Windows or is available from the Download Center.
HTH,
Sorry Marcus,
Still not working. I might add that i am able to successfully use Image Plane with the same models in ZBrush 4.

I’m really puzzled by this. There is hardly any difference between the versions - mostly to do with the interface changes between 4 and 4R2. I’ve so far not been able to reproduce the behaviour. Can you upload a model somewhere that I can use to test? (Anything will do, so long as it causes the problems.) That might just help me find out what is happening.
Thanks,
Thank you Marcus for quick answers. Its working now. I uninstalled Zbrush, and deleted all remaining maps, then reinstalled.
This makes me think it has something to do with some other plugin conflicting with Imageplane.
Maybe its the same for Emdee…

I’m getting a decompression error on the Image Plane zip file on Mac OSX Lion. I’ve tried downloading with two computers (same OS), and tried unzipping with the built-in and a third-party utility. Anybody else having the same issue?
There have been problems with the servers which we’ve been looking into. You could try downloading again now.
Downloaded and decompressing fine now, thanks!
:just saw the announcement:
the mac version still downloads the windows version… and the windows version downloads the windows version… unfair.
Hi,
I’ve tried to place the reference image on the background of my Ztool. I load the image via Texture/Imagplane/Load into the background. Then loading my ZTool. After I click Store View the message appears:“ZCript Note: Interface item could not be found. Transform:Actual in…[IPress, Transform:Actual]”. I press OK which causes the ZTool disappearing.
After recalling this tool by clicking the background it is white flat color. Even if the material chosen is red wax. And from now on every new document I create shows every tool loaded as white flat color material. The only way to escape this faulty appearance is restart ZBrush. The same situation is when I place the image on the background and loading the Tool then.
What is wrong, how to use it? The instruction being placed upon the Help button seems not to be appropriate.
Thanks,
Dogintehfog,
You need to update the Image Plane plugin to the latest version available from the Download Center. Make sure you get the right version for the ZBrush version you are using.
Thank you Marcus. I was almost sure that the plugin version I have is the latest. I was wrong because now it works just right.
Great!
Skull_ImagePlaneX.ztl Download fails, it is timing out on me. Can’t find another source or a how to build one yourself. Any suggestions?
I don’t know if this is a known bug, but whenever I load a tool or load a saved reference view, the front view tab flips my model upside down. I’ve tried a few sample models and it does the same thing. I’m using Win7 ZB4r3 with the latest plugin from the download center.
In 4R4 I cant find the opacity slider. The sub menu in the image plane is completely missing!
Problem solved! Thanks!
- edit - nevermind…
