Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 4R3

Why are you on ZBrush 4 and not 4R3?

As for the texture, that is what AUVTiles looks like. There’s nothing wrong with it. You simply need to flip the texture vertically when exporting it to another program. If you want UV’s the look more traditional, you would want to use UV Master, which is included with ZBrush 4R3.

You’re correct, it’s a problem with the interaction between the Wacom driver and the fact that Windows 7 now natively supports tablets, you can also experience problems in other packages such as 3DS Max.
The easiest solution is to open up your hardware settings (Right-click "(My) Computer and select “Manage” then select “Device Manager”) and disable the Wacom part of the tablet driver (Windows 7s tablet driver is actually better, currently at least). What you want to disable is under “Human Interface Devices” and is the “Wacom Virtual Hid Driver”.
With that disabled you should stop having conflicts between the drivers and the crashes should stop.

I don’t think it works in this version, sorry.

Hi all
So ever since r2 I’ve been having non-stop crashes with zBrush. Sometimes it’s once an hour, sometimes it’s every ~3-5 minutes. I’m using 4R3 now, and the crashes are still there. I posted about this before, but found no solution. Last time I posted I was told that R3 is really close, so I should wait to see if it improves the situation. It doesn’t.

Did complete reinstalls several times. Tried it with installing v4 and upgrading, then I tried it with the 4R3 full installer. Same problems. Did a RAM check, anything I can think of. Still getting crashes every few minutes.

It seems to happen at random. I can’t place any specific action that causes it. Could be as simple as a viewport rotation, or a brush stroke, or xform. Now I have this particular model where it happens every single time if I try to mirror a subtool using subtool-master. It’s the most consistent crash I’m able to produce.

I’d appreciate any kind of help. zBrush doesn’t seem to have an error-log, so I don’t have any leads to go on. The only clue I have is that sometimes (maybe 30% of the crashes) I’ll briefly see a message saying something like “The operation could not be completed due to a faulty installation”, or something like that, it goes away real fast. But mostly it just disappears to the desktop in an instant.

Are there any steps I could take to further diagnose something like this?

I don’t know other then try an reinstall it could be the tool you’re working on. Also try preferences->Performance->Multithreadingoptimizer. good luck

Hey

I have some problems with Goz.

  1. I have found a switcher in max “Toggle Import Material” it seems that it does not work… That is an issue to me becouse i don’t want to import materials and switching to mental ray all the time :\

2)When I’m clicking “Goz” button in Zbrush some weird thing start to happens (in both ways- from 3ds max too)
Zbrush switching between all subtools few times and sometimes import\export subtool and sometimes switching for ever :\

I did ‘force reinstall’ but didn’t help…

GoZ spends more time broken than useful for me. Weird error messages going back and forth with Cinema4D R13. Doesn’t work at all with modo 601. And the updates to GoZ are very infrequent. So I’ve just about given up on it, despite its potential usefulness. As much as I want to, I can’t rely on it for serious production work.

Cannot use nudge in spotlight without crash

System specs:
I7 2600k
Asus P8P67 Deluxe
16 gigs ram
Nvidia 580 GTX
Windows 7 Ultimate

I had almast the same…i had about 50% chance for crash.

How large is that image? Pixels, Resolution, File Size?

Hey guys

Just had this question about the scale issue between 3dsmax and zBrush.

The test above shows that whenever I make a primitive in 3dsmax and send it to Zbrush via GoZ it shows up way larger. IF I do it manually, by exporting the primitive as an obj and importing it as a tool, the scale is more accurate.

The sphere is just for experimenting. The issue is if I need to create a base meshes in 3dsMax and send the lot over to Zbrush.

Its possible to merge all the visible tools and scale it via transpose and do this----> polygroups>autogroups>grp split.

I tried creating my base meshes in Zbrush and sending it to 3dsmax via GoZ but it just turns out really tiny.

However, I’m just curious if theres a more direct solution to this problem of scale.

This also affects Dynamesh resolution :frowning:

Please help! I’m at wit’s endsss :frowning:

Thank you for kindly reading this

I had a problem with max to Zbrush getting way larger scale on different objects from the same scene here is how I solved it though it can be tedious

1: Save each subtool in max as a seperate object

2: start zbrush import your first object and save as a ztyool.

3: exit zbrush

4: start Zbrush and import your second obj and save as a ztool.

5: load your first ztool then add the second that is already open in zbrush as your subtool. save file as your assy file

6: close zbrush and repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 until all your subtools are loaded

I dunno why but when I do it this way all the OBJ files stay the same scale as they were in Max. I have tried different methods from bringing each one into max then saving all seperate (each one scales differently even then)

I also tried bringing them in to zbrush and saving out as an obj in zbrush then brionging them in (same result)

But when I brought in my first obj say the body saved it then closed restarted the prog brought in second obj say the inner eyes saved as ztool then loaded the body and added the inner eyes to the subtool menu the scale stayed the same.

it might be some small bug but the opions I posted above I have never had an issue when I did it that way

Never mind then.

JOE H> Thanks for the advice  It seems to work out!

I wonder if this will get sorted out in the future?

Hey guys!

I found a thread that explains the scale issue. Sorry for being sucha noob.

hope it helps the rest  props to mentalfrog!

Hehehehe, I loaded a bigger pic and model via GoZ and DAZ studio and it worked…but it probably won’t the next time a try…weird

I get that message sometimes when I close Zbrush. Any idea whats wrong?

Thats normally what happens when you change the name/or location of the folder zbrush is in. if that not what happen then I would make sure
that I had full read and write permission in that folder.

I changed the permissions but still get the same problem any other suggestions?
