Hiya,
I posted about this but no one seems interested so this will be the last I mention it. I am including screen shots of a test I did in ZBrush 4R2B, an outline of the problem, and system specs below. Any clarification/confirmation would be welcome.
PROBLEM: The new Grow Mask and Shrink Mask functions in ZB4R2 were programmed to the wrong buttons. After reading the docs carefully (it is mislabeled Extend instead of Grow BTW) I can’t reconcile their behavior except to say that it looks like they are reversed. NOTE - This isn’t some hotkey mapping issue or custom UI gone wrong, just the actual functions of the buttons being misplaced on your end.
ADDITIONAL: Also, the CTRL+Click and CTRL+ALT+Click commands with masks don’t seem correspond to what the docs say:
The CTRL+Click and CTRL+ALT+Click shortcuts are now assigned to the Extend
and Shrink Mask functions rather than to the Blur and Sharpen Mask functions.
CTRL+Click seems to be setup to Grow Mask (which is really Shrink), but CTRL+ALT+Click seems to still Sharpen Mask.
TEST: A Plane with a mask in the center and single click tests of Blur/Sharpen/Grow/Shrink. I always reverted (using undo) to the original mask. Note the thin line I added to highlight the problem with Shrink/Grow being programmed wrong.
CONCLUSIONS:
- Shrink Mask actually extends the mask beyond its original border and does not reflect its definition in the docs or common sense.
- Grow Mask actually shrinks the mask in from its original border and does not reflect its definition in the docs or common sense.
- CTRL+Click is setup to Grow Mask, but since that functionality is wrong it is confusing as to the actual intent of the command.
- CTRL+ALT+Click is set to Sharpen Mask despite the fact that the documentation says it should now default to Shrink Mask.
SPECS: ZBrush 4R2B, Win 7x64, Quadro 5000, Dual Xeon X5690
Again, any clarification would be welcome. Thanks,
