Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 4R2b

I did check that, and I haven’t changed it. This seems to happen at random, sometimes after working for a bit but I usually see it
very quickly. I see it very often while working in 2.5D where I would expect to have a hell of a lot of undo’s. The only fix is to kill
off ZBrush and start it back up and that works most of the time but not all.
The key thing here is that I can use undo if I click on the button in the Edit Menu, but not by using Control Z, and that is why
I think its a bug of some sort.
Does that make sense?

Wouldn’t it be easy to just adjust your ui so you can easily access the undo button as a workaround for now? I have both my undo and redo buttons on my right shelf, so I have them easily accessable when I;m using my tablet.

(I actually made new macros for each of them to make the buttons smaller as well.)

I did that, well basically I just docked the pallet it self, but I figure its worth mentioning since
Control Z is sort of a habit going back to when I was a kid using a Macintosh 512. It being
intermittent is weird though.

Yeah, same here, but when I’m using my tablet, I hate going to the keyboard for anything, as it slows my workflow.

That was a problem in version 4 also and maybe it’s still hanging around. The fix for it then was to add the following lines into your ZStartup/Hotkeys/StartupHotkeys.TXT file

[EDIT:UNDO,634] // Ctrl+Z

[EDIT:TOOL:UNDO,634] // Ctrl+Z

[EDIT:REDO,890] // Ctrl+Shift+Z

[EDIT:TOOL:REDO,890] // Ctrl+Shift+Z

Try it and see if it solves your problem.

If it works, we might have to add that to our new R3 release tomorrow! :wink:

Yes, makes sense. I wasn’t clear how you did it. Sounds like a bug.

‘F’ - to Frame or even using the Frame button in the UI can act like a ‘Save As’ command and then crash zBrush. This is only when the memory is pushed to the max.

Zber I am trying that right now. So far so good, but it might take a few restarts as it was intermittent… More news at eleven… or sooner

I am experiencing frequent crashes when using the “Move Topological” brush. Is it doing something different than the topological modifier/mask?

edit: after testing the topological auto mask that seems to be the crash culprit, at least when using it with a move brush.

I didn’t know there was a button for that with lightbox so I dident know it was broken, but I am making a script that turns it off and a bunch of other nifty stuff…
Im doing too many things at once.
On top of that I am making coffee so I can force my self to be awake when this new release comes out.

Trying to deactivate ZBrush 3R2b, before installing R3 and like last time in ZPlugIn -> Deactivation, there is only a Manual Deactivation button!

I just recently upgraded to 4R3 but for some reason my UI groups is not displaying from the startup. Theres no double lines suggesting this UI enhancement. Any suggestions about why this isn’t working? My magnifying glass, noise maker, fiber mesh improvements are present, this seems like the only setback. Another question is after upgrading what application folders have to be deleted? I think Zbrush is still confused with previous versions. I still have Zbrush 4, 4R2, and now 4R3 in my applications directory. Im using a macbook pro.

I’m getting this quite often with ZB4r3 when I go to save (at least once a day). Zbrush then proceeds to crash and there is no tool in the Auto Recovery folder :frowning: Is this happening for anyone else or anyone know a work around to get a recovery file if this happens? On Win7 64 bit here.

I had this issue a lot with the last build , but so far no problems with 4R3 for me win7/64

Yeah, it was so bad in 4r2b that I had to revert back to 4.2. The installation seemed to go off without a hitch so not sure what’s the problem.

Im new to Z Brush and have encountered a problem that is fustrating me.

I painted on my model using polypaint and when I try to create a texture map using the “new from polypaint” button this is the result.

Any idea how to fix this issue? I also get this issue when I try to create a normal map.

Im not sure if the UVs I created are the problem, I used the UV check feature and they appear to be fine.

It would appear as if some of those UV are riiiiight at the border. Possibly scoot them in just a few pixels. Also, you can try to export the obj and bring it into softimage or maya (not sure how this works in max) and see if there are any cluster groups on there besides the UV and delete that off and re-export back to Zbrush. You have the mesh on highest sub d level when you back the polypaint to to texture right?
