They originally said the patch would be available in a few weeks. I’m guessing they decided to hold back a bit and polish noisemaker a bit more, and also make sure that whatever the final remesh plugin is works properly as well with the patch.
I think once the remesher plugin is done and gone through testing, they’ll finalize the patch, and release it.
It would be nice to know how much remesher will cost, and see some videos of the features. Since standalone remeshers are about $100, I’m guessing a plugin would be competitively priced to encourage people to buy the plugin, but thats pure speculation.
If it comes in 50 or under I’ll pick it up, but if its over that, I’ll grab the full featured ones already available.
Personally I cant wait for the patch and could not care less about some third party tool I honestly dont need.
All I want is stability.
It really depends on the 3rd party plugin though, doesn’t it? If we can retopo ith just a few brush strokes, that would be a worthwhile tool to have available.

I’m very new to the entire concept of zBrush and have found it fascinating. I obtained the demo to learn more and see if it would be worth purchasing. The installation went well and I was following the intro tutorials but when using the brush to create I don’t get nice round objects but instead it plops big squares that are opaque.
Any advice or suggestions? Some sort of program conflict? I tried to reinstall and reboot but nothing works and I was unable to find a similar issue on the forums.

Simply select an alpha from the Alpha palette.
Absolutely, I say I dont need it because I dont, yet. My problem is that I now have to use two versions of ZBrush, 4.0 for sculpting (due to various things mainly the canvas problem and crashing constantly) and 4r2b for any thing new like the mesh insert brushes and fibermesh…
I only need retopo for things that I dont know how to do yet, and maybe squeezing a few more polygons out of stuff like I can do in Sculptris.
It seems like I got the works with the bugs introduced in 4r2b, and that I have the “drop to canvas” one almost constantly and it builds up and gets worse and worse. That is why I am more interested in the patch then the plugin, not out of any disinterest in the thing it self.
I hear ya… I’m getting drop to canvas a lot as well… I just kept thinking it was something stupid I was doing…
Do you have a screenshot of the issue? It sounds more like you’re painting pixols on the document instead of editing a tool.
i found bug in r2b . if you put some strokes realy quick , zbrush will make copy of your mesh (like you pressed shift+s) .that’s terrible bug , please fix it.

Found few bugs in zbrush4r2b. Let me know if others have faced the same problem.
1.while rotating anything using the transpose line when one rotates from the centre cirlce the object seems to snap and
doesn’t rotate smoothly. But works fine when tried rotating from corner circle of any end.
I hope if there is any solution or is it a bug which is gonna be fixed.
2.while loading any image (hires/ low res) spotlight crashes often in zbrush4r2b but it works fine in zbrush 4.
Both the tools are awesome but somehow its not working properly.
I have also submitted a ticket in pixologic.I got a reply saying they have encountered the same problem and will get back to me with some resolution.But not yet got back on that.
I hope with the new zbrush4 r3 the above bugs, if at all they exist are fixed :).

Hoping for some help or some camaraderie (or both) on something I have seen in the latest zBrush –
Now the body is filled with the last material I filled from the first subtool (body of the character).
This happens when only using MRGB, M or Subtool Master.

I use Maya2012 and 4r2b, I have some models I cleaned and then UVed in maya. Then I GoZ them use Unwrap, with
‘Symmetry’ and ‘Use Existing UV Seams’, to flatten. I GoZ it back to Maya and the UV’s are Flipped and Red. Normally in Zbrush 4 or 4r2 they are just Flipped up sidedown but never red. Is this a bug or was the setting changed some how. And the
Doc, help button and online Doc aren’t of any help, They need to be updated.

This just happened while screwing about with the tree tutorial, I haven’t finished it yet and
have not added Micromesh.
I am also showing my render settings though I haven’t done anything unusual with them.
If you look closely at this you will see that the render is completely bizarre, its got grey
(the only grey should be the background) areas, odd transparency and all sorts of depth
problems.
never mind I found the problem. Since I Retopo in Zbrush, when I generate the new mesh the normals are flip inside out. when I UV it the UV Shells are red, so I flip them.
After I’m done with the UV’s I check the Normals which are inside out, I flip them. Flipping the Normals in Maya flips the UV shell, turning the UV red again, and I only notice it after
coming back into Maya again. leading me to think that Zbrush was flipping them on export. So the problem is why are the generated meshs inside out
when i export the mesh manually the UV’s are flipped upside down but with GoZ not , I don’t know if that is a bug or not but it should export the same way as it was created the same with fibermesh
Sometimes when I try to use Control Z for undo it will not work until I restart ZBrush, doing it manually with
the buttons in the Edit Menu works however and other things that require the Control Key work normally like masking.
I know its a bit late to be mentioning this stuff but I didn’t realize what I was looking at for a while.

The UNDO might have to do with how many undos you have setup (though you apparently checked this) and your memory settings.
