The patch seems a bit late now considering that statement… and I thought we’d hear about the remesher by now… its mid Feb.
I read your last post and this one but didn’t answer mainly because I dont have anything like an answer and my results with posing things with a very small number of exceptions (one) is a bit worse, I simply cant get it to work.
This is not just 4r2b however, its 4, 4r2 and 4r2b and I just figure I’m doing it wrong… I do know that I have followed a LOT of different sets of instructions and tutorials and still get results that look like something the Geneva convention cant even come up with a name for.
I want to be able to do this too but with out feeling like a psychopath with a penchant for math based torture.
If I were you I would post this in here:
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?101-Other-Questions-And-Troubleshooting-Forum
And maybe give full screenshots, they help some how or other.
Sorry if thats not too helpful, honestly your results while painful looking seem survivable where as mine do not; there’s something about forcing parts of people through the second dimension that makes them look fairly screwed.
Cheers and good luck!

About OSX crashing on startup.
It happens on my system too, every 20-30 restarts. It happened in zb4 r2 as well.
(OSX 10.6.8, MacPro 2xXeon, 16 threads, nvidiaGPU)
First I made a ‘dynamesh head’ and made a new topology, saved the dynamesh and the ZSphere-subtool and shut down ZBrush.
Opened the file and the adaptive skin preview looks ok (first image). I needed to edit more (Topology>Edit) but polygons are missing in edit mode (2+3)
I can select points but when I try to move them, only a kind of ghostpoint is moving (4+5). Not possible to edit after shutting down ZBrush?
ZBrush 4r2b crashes after every 15min work. screenshot attached below :

how to solve this. plz help
A few of us were discussing fibermesh enhancements/features in the preview thread, and per Aurick’s request, I’m posting some of the ideas here.
It would be very beneficial for us to have a “reset” button in fibermesh to restore the original default settings, especially when we stray into extreme territory exploring it’s options.
(As it is, we a using a screen cap and manually resetting all the features in order to get it back to the default state, which is cumbersome and of course slows workflow down.)
Also, it would be nice to be able to load and save presets as well for reuse on future projects, especially when we come up with presets we really like.
It might also be nice to have those saved in a file somewhere, so we could share them with each other here as well.
Here is a ZBrush script that does the reset thing:
//RECORDED ZSCRIPT 4.3
//This script is in the public domain.

I figure that seeing as this is the first script I have ever made I might have a small chance of making one
that saves settings as well, maybe a 1% chance but its a better chance then I had before this morning
when I hadn’t even tried!
Cheers!

Thanks for the reset script! Now I just need to figure out how to use scripts. <sigh> One more thing to learn… LOL!
I AM SO SORRY!!!
I am such a total ass!
Ok do this:
- Copy and paste the script into a new text document in something like notepad.
- Save the text file as something clever like Reset.Txt or something stupid and fun like AlaPeanutButterSandwiches.Txt
- Now in Zbrush in the ZScript Menu at the top hit the Load button.
- Rummage about for where ever you put the bloody thing and open it.
- At the bottom of the ZBrush window (in that weird extra tray thing) you should see a button that says Play, hit that.
- If you do NOT see that button look in the ZScript Menu and hit the Hide ZScript. (I know, seems stupid but it works)
- Now you should see the button at the bottom.
- Obviously you now press it and watch what it does, its kind of fun to watch!
Sorry I was so excited that I made something like this I forgot people might not know how to use it! it took me a while to figure out too…
Cheers!

Wanna know how I made it?
this is so stupid…
seriously its silly…
- Load or create what ever you are going to add fibers to. (make sure its PM3D and all that happy stuff and that Edit is on… mumble… Flippen Edit button ^$@&^…
- Open the FiberMesh Pallet.
- Dock the ZScript Menu.
- Hit the Record Button.
- Carefully click on all of the settings that have sliders, do not change the numbers in them if you can help it, BUT if you do you can fix it later in the text file it spits out.
- Now hit the End Rec button.
- At the bottom of your ZBrush window if you do not see the Play Button, open the bottom most tray, it SHOULD be in there.
- If you do NOT see that button look in the ZScript Menu and hit the Hide ZScript. (I know, seems stupid but it works) (didn’t I just say this? hehehe!)
- Ok, hitting Play at the moment should do nothing to your settings as they are all at their basic starting point, but if you mess with them and then hit Play everything should reset.
If I forgot anything let me know, I’m more then a bit daft
Cheers again!

Nah… yer not the stupid one… I am. I just haven;t gotten aroudn to learning script use yet… or layers…just not enough hours in the day!
That is what coffee is for, and if you want to pack even more in a steady stream of espresso
helps, its like a time compressor allowing you to double the length of a day.
The funny thing is the first time I saw the idea mentioned I thought of how to do it, and
despite the fact I know nothing about ZScript it worked the first time.
I should have done it as soon as I thought of doing it but I second guessed my self and figured
I couldn’t.
That is the sort of thing that actually costs time in the long run, in theory I could have
answered the first post BUT NO, and THAT is stupid.
Up with COFFEE!
I have this weird behavior too, while sculpting , zbrushr4r2b, sometimes makes a snapshot of the model which needs to be cleared with ctrl-N and it is really annoying . Another thing is that from time to time i can’t rotate the model, it remains stuck in position and I need to restart zbrush, plus some of the sculpting brushes have lag , as other users mentioned, for example clay tubes . I really hope that the fix patch will be realesead very soon or I will see myself forced to go back to zbrush4r2.
I’m getting the zBrush disappearing act. I’m working on stuff, then randomly out of the blue the interface hangs for about 2-3 seconds then it just closes. No error messages. Nothing in particular to note. Seems like just about anything can trigger it, even a file-save, which is horrible. Just random zBrush crashes. I’ve been getting them nonstop since 4R2, and R2b didn’t seem to help much with that.
Tried deactivating, reactivating, uninstalling and reinstalling, completely deleting it, nothing helps.
I wish I could provide more information. But due to the nature of this problem I can’t really document anything.
Still, if there’s anything I can do, I’d appreciate any advice.
I am too, but we probably need to mention it in that bug hunting thread they have posted.
Where is that?
This is it, you are in the right place.
There is a patch coming out soon(ish) to address all this stuff.
D’oh! its this thread.
Oh I see. I thought that dude was referring to some other thread.
Is there any info about this patch?
