I saw someone ask this question at the beginning of the thread but it doesn’t seem to have been answered [or I’m blind] - is there a way of making a polySphere refrain from loading automaticaly on startup? There is a button for the lightbox not to load but I can’t find anything for the geometry. Thanks.

the problem I am having is I’ve created a mesh in maya. Brought it into zbrush 3.5r2 and sculpted it. I then took it back into maya to re-uv it. I bring it back into my tool and click yes when it says topology has changed. I then am not able to polypaint the tool anymore past this point. :td:
when ever I do a color picker drag to the canvas or tool I get a crash to desktop.
if i use the hotkey “c” then it works fine.
yeah I had a crash on color picking too today
I just crashed 3 times in about 45 minutes trying to use the color picker. Thanks for the ‘c’ tip.

I’m using the Dam_standard brush …when I Draw a stroke quickly I get dotting instead of a clean line. I changed over to the Free Hand stroke but get the same thing. Way is that the spacing slider doesn’t work on Mesh:qu:
cyberspawn, in the past the official response is to now use lazymouse. but i too find not being able to use the stroke settings quite limiting and was really hoping to find them reactivated in 3.5, quite disappointing.
I’m surprised the advantage of the new ‘Relative’ option for LazyMouse wasn’t mentioned by Pixologic. Like I say a few pages back, when I set LazySmooth to ‘0’ and LazyRadius to ‘1’, I get zero dotting and no delay (i.e. no lazy chain), regardless of brush size. Makes me so happy to sculpt without my brushes breaking up now.
I decided to test the extract button on a polysphere in 3.5R2 at 6mil+ polys on my new machine - double quad core cpu, 12gb ram - and it never extracted, it just froze up or quit responding. After restarting I lowered the subdivision level to 300,000+ polys and after waiting for 2 minutes got an extracted mesh, but not what I expected. The mask I used was the standard “grid” texture and “mask by intensity”. But the extracted mesh came out a bunch of circles, not squares like you would expect, and the mesh was paper thin, although I had the thickness set to “.02”. Both smooth sliders were set to “1”.
I then decided to recreate the same test using Zbrush 3.1. Using all of the same settings, the same mesh and mask, the extract worked great and was very fast in comparison. I extracted from a 6mil+ poly mesh with no problems. The extracted mesh was the right thickness and was nice crisp squares that you would expect from a grid shaped mask.
I checked both Zbrush versions to make sure all of the performance/mem settings were set the same and they were.
My OS is Vista Home Premium 64bit. My cpu is Intel Core i7 975 @ 3.33ghz, 12gb ram, Nvidia Geforce Gtx 285 video card.

maybe its just me, but i can’t find the smooth 4 brush in my UI in brush palette and in brushes at bottom row either…it has disappeared in 3.5R2?

i noticed that path in brushses with paths tends to stop quite soon is there any option i should tweak to obtain a continous path all over a mesh?

If you are getting ZBrush asking you to remap your mesh that means you changed topology in Maya and that will project the sculpt into the new. You should not get this question from ZBrush if all you are changing is the UVs. I get no issues when changing UVs in Maya then bringing mesh back into ZBrush. I also don’t get the question which is exactly what should be happening.
Chances are that you are polypainting on the mesh but you have the texture on in the Texture Map menu. Please check that because if you have a map on you will not see your polypainting being applied even though it is appling.

Please make sure you are in sketch mode and click on the Brush Icons on the left side. You should have the smooth brush 4 there. My is there. The ZSketch UI never had Smooth Brush on the bottom of the interface. If you want to add it just turn Custom UI on in the Preferences>Then CTRL drag the smooth brush to the bottom>turn off Enamble Custom UI>Save out your UI under the Config menu in the Preferences.

I am experiencing the same problem with modo.
When I import an obj model from modo, then it happens too when iFlipY and iFlipZ are pressed.
When they are not pressed then all OK but then the model is upside down and backwards.
Really annoying.

For those who got this bug like I did, here is the solution:
-Go to Brush>Tablet pressure>RGB intensity Curve and set focal shift to 0.
Mine was at 75.
I think that I got this bug by pasting my Zstartup folder in the new folder version.

PrayingMantis, you’re a god. That weak mask issue was annoying me to no end. You’re solution is much appreciated.
This might have already been addressed, but I would really like to be able to pick the smooth brush as a brush, rather than simply relying on the “shift” key to pick the smooth brush. I’d much rather create a shortcut for a smooth brush. I use smooth so much I don’t want to have to hold down shift when i use it. Plus and here’s the biggest problem I have, you can’t use the lazy stroke with the smooh brush. Thanks

If you minimize ZBrush then come back to it you will see the white-border. Upon clicking Maximize button the window will shrink to half size. To solve this problem I re-sized the ZBrush UI window to my full screen size then I saved Preferences. Now when clicking Maximize button it works like it should.
What’s wrong with “MatCap2” Shader:qu: it looks totally messed up and none of the sliders seem to response to any changes!?!
ZBrush Crashed on me while clicking on a Mesh while in Transpose mode. I was intending to just click to set Local navigation point but a very small action-line was drawn then crash! I’m using an Intuos2 tablet on a Pentium4 XP32 machine.
ZBrush Crashed on me while it was minimized! I had mesh open in edit mode. Its only happened ounce so far.
Thanks dfaris - turning off multidraw under preferences does seem to fix the artifacts appearing in the viewport on scale, rotate & move. I can’t seem to save that setting with ‘store config’ so anyone having this problem remember to sort it before getting that model tweaked into the perfect postion - while suddenley generating those pesky artifacts & having to redraw as best as possible into the position again.
Any word on the shift click to draw a zSphere of the same as previous size?

Or is my version bugging & everyone else can still use it?
