Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 3.5R2 Windows

thanks that worked. I tried to uncheck “open at launch” under the lightbox category, but it still show’s up everytime. Is there anyway to disable this for good??

About 75% of the time when i make a macro the program will freeze right after i hit End Macro.
Also got a freeze with some old brush presets that use lazymouse, someone suggested that it is the stroke lazystep being .00995.

I wonder what is the point of new “move brush” method
it have been already useful as hell!, and now i prefer to move along normals by any other brush than this stupid Click then Shift then Drag then Release then Click then Shift then …
it is very painful
don’t know why there is no complain about that ?!?! or is there any secret fast workflow that i don’t know?!
please someone help me

I received ZBrush3_5 zip-file from Pixologic. It didn’t contain any installer file, only the normal Zbrush folder structure which I extracted to the same folder where Zbrush 3.1 was installed. It started working fine and registering the product was a success. Was I suppose to recieve the folder structure instead of installer? I’m asking this just to make sure cause I find it strange:D

Where or how can I adjust in 3.5R2 the size of the Displacement-map that I create/export ? No matter what I try, the sizeof the exported map is always 2048 x 2048

It does not come as an installer. Just unzip and run.

I’d just like to ask a technical question regarding how zbrush 3.5 will benefit x64 windows applications, like Windows xp pro x64. Since z3.5 is not currently a 64bit application, what benefit do i have over it compared installing it in a 32 bit windows, especially with the allocation of RAM? Exactly, how much RAM(max) can zbrush 3.5 and 3.1 use to speed up the flow of my sculpting in an x64 windows compared to an x32 windows? What exactly do you upgrade when you want faster sculpting, memory or processor or video card?

I also don’t understand why there is a zbrush 2 x64 version but not one for the 3.1 and 3.5? Will there ever be a 64bit zbrush for these versions?

Thanks, hopefully i can get clarification with these before i spent the next bunch of my savings for something hopefully contributing.

Hello.

I realy love to use 3.5, but I simply cant make maps without distortions for multiple Uvs.Here are some things that iv noted that hinder work flow, or fail to work.

1: when wil Texture maps have smooth Uvs.
2: When will I beable to use multiple Uvs without distortions?
3: Cant find a way to use symmetry for HD sculpting?
4: After applying Previewing HD the mouse lags bad, so have to close down ZB.
5: Need to beable to sculpt HD while hiding some of the mesh, I can use trasparecy, but rather hide what im not working on.
6: Need to beable to remove HD, but cant.
7: Cant gain access to my sub d levels after using HD
8: Can we apply noise to HD geometry?
9: How do we sellect a larger or smaller area to sculpt HD?
10: Cloning a object loosing all HD sculpt info.

I realy need to know as I have to plan ahead weather im to use 3.5 or not.

Thanks Richard.:+1:

When I open Zbrush 3.5R2 on my 64bit machine it opens up off to the right of the screen and I cannot get it to
center. This makes it impossible for me to use it.

Any ideas?
Thank you for your time

I have this problem also sometimes. But i can move the window around by click-hold over the top line until i get the maximizing controls on screen.

What works with most if not all wrong placed windows: Right-click on the taskbar icon of the application. Select MOVE from the menu. Now press one of the cursor keys to move the window. Your mouse pointer moves to the window. Now move your mouse. After that the window snaps to your mouse position and you can move it simply by moving the mouse until you click to drop it at the actual position.

Thank you colonelz your answer worked perfectly!

big Hugs!!

I’m actually using 3.1 right now, and I have a bunch of PSD files that I guess were supposed to be brushes for Zbrush, but I can’t find any way to import them or to even convert them. Can anyone please help me???

I had similar problem:
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showpost.php?p=611716&postcount=158

If you minimize ZBrush then come back to it you will see the white-border. Upon clicking Maximize button the window will shrink to half size. To solve this problem I re-sized the ZBrush UI window to my full screen size then I saved Preferences. Now when clicking Maximize button it works like it should.

Zbrush brushes are their own format with a .ZBP file extension, so i don’t believe you actually have any.
what i think you have are Photoshop files that are most likely alphas, if they are greyscale images that is what they are and can be loaded in the alpha palette.

As mentioned on the general trouble shooting forum, as Im getting little response Im starting to think it may be a bug and might be more suitable here.

Im wanting all modelers at my work place to have access to the same materials, a single folder that is linked to each artists startup/materials folder as a shortcut.

This was possible with previous ZBrush version but Ive tried it in several locations in 3.5r and it doesnt seem to locate the material files.

Cheers

Just wanted to make it known that I experience many freeze ups and crashes when running ZB 3.1 or 3.5 on win7x64. I do not experience these when running ZB 3.12 for mac. All I’ve been doing is experimenting with environment sculpts- once I have a sub’d plane textured and I begin to work with subtools and transpose ZB crashes, on mac I can mess around all I want without any problems. Could it be that my textures and subtools are located in different directories?

I will be upgrading to the retail Windows 7 x64 and pay more attention to filepaths, I hope this will solve my problems but if anyone else has been experiencing similar problems and has a solution please let me know!

In 3.5 Mask by intensity, mask by hue and mask by saturation are disabled, even though I have poly painted the model in parts.

I used to use this way to save a mask, but now in the new version it doesn’t work.

Also how can I get 3.5R2? I have sent an email to pixologic but no-one has replied.
