The only way I can get zbrush to open on vista 64, is to enable, the Run as Adminstrator option in the properties of the shortcut. However whenever you open the program it prompts you to allow “unidentified software” to run your computer. Anyway to get that prompt to go away?
Do I have to be connected to the Internet all the time? I get a successful activation, but the first time I disconnect from the Internet (I’m on dial-up and have to use the phone once and a while) and start Zbrush, I get an activation failure.
dear pixologic-staff,
while i’m waiting for my email-activation code (yes, already got 3.5 downloaded) i was checking the zb3.5 folder structure and it’s files. there are typos again like with the 3.1 - ex.: inside zStartup folder (or similar) it’s “ExportTamplates” - since you didn’t wrap up everything into one installer yet… is there a chance to correct this stuff… (oh, no pressure - just asking)
too sad, there’s no grace-period like v3 - all i can watch right now is the startup screen with this message window and logo animation (zoom-blend-thingy) so, since there’s a SplashData folder with a textfile containing your initial message and some other stuff, my question: is it possible to customize the startup screen? own message and own image? that would be cool…
so, that’s all for now - no complains or whatever - just anxious to get my activation!
chem!
Assigning shortcuts to brushes/and ?
Holding control and clicking on a brush gives me this message:
operation canceled.
I’m getting some kind of residue on the screen when I move or scale the tool.
It’s weird. What it is, is if you control click something to set up a hotkey assignment, but move the mouse at all before making that assignment, it cancels the operation.
If I’m careful, I can complete the assignment, but none of them seem to “take”. Tried to map scroll to the spacebar a la ZB 2.5, and even though it said successfully assigned, it still brings up the quick menu.
Use the mouse, not pen tablet, when assigning hot keys. The movement of the pen following a click, may cause the hot-key process to abort.
Any Mouse movement also appears to abort the process.
Thanks Support and Bingo, I’ll try the suggested solutions.
Indeed no cursor movement allowed, so it’s a little tricky to assign them
Bingo Jackson, to store them, go to
preferences>hotkeys>save> as startuphotkeys.txt in the suggested folder
and not as hotkeys.txt(as suggested by zbrush)
I made a backup of startuphotkeys.txt (just in case)

I disconnected from the net and Zbrush still loaded, so it doesn’t appear to be the case. If I’m wrong though and it needs to connect periodically, I’d be interested to know, since my connection goes down once in a while.
If it’s the case, I’m really going to start hammering the ‘please stop punishing your customers with pointless copy protection’ thing again. Seriously, it’s becoming increasingly painful to be a legal purchaser of software these days. The hoops that need to be jumped through just to get something running are bad enough… periodic net connecting is a step into silly territory.
Please let us know Aurick.
That isn’t my problem unfortunately. The binding just doesnt seem to take, in the same session. Granted, the only thing Ive tried so far is Scroll to Space Key, so it might just be that particular combination that doesnt work.
Indeed, when I try it, it seems to map the function to my LMB,which borks my navigation, not the space key
Anyone else having the same problem - I have installed the update, choose Web activation, fill out the simple form entering the serial number, then…nothing…no activation code on the web page or by email!
Whats going on?
… what is to be found within Support Center:
>>There is currently a known issue with the ZActivation.zsc files that are being emailed to users following a web activation. We are working on correcting this as soon as possible. For now, when you activate ZBrush 3.5 please do NOT use the ZActivation.zsc file that will be emailed to you.
For web activation: After filling in the form with your serial number and email address you will be taken to a congratulations page. That page will also have your activation key. Copy the key and switch back to ZBrush. Click the “Enter Code” option that you will see and then paste the code into place. This will complete your activation. You will be able to ignore the email that you will receive a few minutes later with your ZActivation.zsc file. Simply delete that email.
For email activation: After filling in the email form our staff will complete the activation for you. You will receive two emails from us. One will contain the ZActivation.zsc file. Ignore that file and delete that email. The second email that you receive will be from the support system and will have a copy of your activation code. Launch ZBrush and choose the option to use the activation code. Paste the code into place to complete your activation.
Thank you for your patience as we get this issue resolved. <<
Hope your topic is covered here.
Unfortunately not, like I said, when I enter my serial number in on that form and click submit, I get no activation code at all, either on the page or by email!
TrackZ - I’m having the same problem
firewall >> off?
virus checker >> off??
I started using 3.5 and it seem like my cursor is very hyper-active. Even when I am not doing anything the cursor is active. Is anyone else experiencing this.
I also created a Zsphere but when I move it there is another on on top of it.
Is this unusual?
I turned my Virus checker off, not sure I will my firewall though, I cant see how that is the problem though, it’s only a code that is not being sent to me, nothing to do with my my PC…
I have submitted a ticket now anyway, so it over to Pixo Support!
I turned off every firewall and antivirus I could find on my laptop and it made no difference.
I’m using a mobile internet dongle - not sure if that could be causing a problem?
