Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 3.5 Windows

I am having this same problem. Turned off antivirus and firewall and deleted Zactivation file and still just get taken to the :“this page is only for users who
would like to activate the Windows version of ZBrush3.5.” page. No email has been to sent to me.

Please help!

Still no answer for my problem… Am I the only one ?

Where have you installed 3.5 to? How much free space is available at that location? Are there any permissions settings that are blocking ZBrush’s ability to write to its own folder and subfolders? Have you tried the Vista setting to “Run this program as Administrator”?

installed to …Program Files(x86)\Pixologic\Zbrush 3.5

197GB Free on the drive

Full control is enabled on all Pixologic folders

I am the Administrator on the machine, and I also double checked and forced “Run as Administrator” just to be sure.

Still having troubles.

So this is where I discuss problems with 3.5 yes?

I installed and everything is OK.

When I select Zsphere to go and build a frame to test out the new Zspheres 2, I click and drag a Zsphere on there no problem. when I click on it to add another wone, they disapear. I move around abit and they come back. Try to click on them to move a sphere etc. they disapear again. Am I doing something wrong?

Provide the exact steps you’re following.

Hi. That page is actually where the question came up for me.

"If you do not receive your upgrade instructions by the end of business on Friday, September 11 please first check your email account’s spam filter or junk mail folder. Remember that the email will be coming from Cleverbridge rather than from Pixologic.

If you still cannot locate the upgrade email, submit a support ticket to let us know. We will be able to look into the matter and get your upgrade instructions sent to you. Please do not submit a ticket before then, as we will not be able to assist until after all upgrade emails have been sent by Cleverbridge. Upgrade support tickets that are submitted before end of business on the 11th will be closed."

When is “end of business” for them? Or did I miss something? I reread it…

Howdy,

Does Right-Click navigation mean we can finally bind our mouse settings? If so, how would one go about doing this. I can’t find anything under properties or anywhere else.

Thanks a bunch!

Had the same problem, this fixed it for me too! I’m off!!! Swoooooosh~~~~!

So can someone just answer simply; Do x64 users need to install in the x86 programs folder or the default programs folder?

It should go in the Program Files (x86) folder.

So does the help have to be re-installed and the plugins too? I tried to install the zbrush help and received the error that the zplug directory and a dynamic link library in are missing. This update was botched. Someone needs to find the Autodeak mole who infiltrated the zbrush update release team and get rid of him/her.

The Help system is not available for 3.5, in any form. Please use the resources at http://support.pixologic.com/zclassroom. The video tutorials on the new features are great!

Cant imagine it matters. Don’t think its any more 64 bit than 3.1 was. I have mine in the x86 folder, but I think it would run where ever you put it.

Just got 3.5 up and running and I have to say it’s FAST  Only snag I have is small artifacts in the viewscreen when using move/ rotate/ scale controls.

XP pro 64 bit
GeForce 8800GTX w /6.14.11.9062 drivers

Any Suggestions / system settings I could try ?

Yeah, I just was looking for a specific answer, but since Pixologic has their own SCSI drive on my computer it doesn’t matter for me, but the specific info would be nice.

Anyway it’s up and running, just need to figure it out now.

Greetings.

Several questions:

How I can change a startup scene in 3.5, namely

  • no default sphere or any other geometry
  • make Lightbox closed/unactive by default
  • set Subdivition to 1 and delete higher levels of it
  • Point ZBrush 3.5 to import/export folders other then ZImportExport and keep it there so I won’t need to navigate to those other folders every time when I need to import the mesh.

And turn off the “blimp” sound which I get when I make new document and it asks me if I want to save changes.

I tried to save preferences but it didn’t work.

Thank you

New smooth brushes are great, but it’s a little confusing. When shift is pressed the stroke / z intensity and draw size all update to show the smooth brush settings, but the brush icon remains on the previously selected sculpting brush - so there’s no feedback about which smooth brush is in use. Selecting any of the smooth brushes from the brush menu doesn’t change the active brush display either, instead of showing the current smooth brush selection it doesn’t update and shows the previous brush ?

I also have it in my x86 folder.

Just trying to gauge how panicked I should be.

And then after dinner I wanted to open it. But there was no shortcut on my desktop and no entry in the Start menu…

So I created a shortcut to the ZBrush exe inside the 3.5 folder, double clicked it and once again everything froze. This isn’t funny anymore!

When clicking Alt I got a message that read:

Unable to open/Create a fileC:\Program Files (x86)\ Pixologic \ ZBrush 3.5 /ZStartup/Macros/Misc/SetOldMoveMode.zsc

It sounds like ZBrush doesn’t have sufficient permissions. Are you running under an administrator account or is it a user account? Which OS version is it? If Vista or 7 you will need to use the “Run as Administrator” option. But depending on how your computer’s permissions are set up you may need to manually assign permissions so that ZBrush can write to its own folder and subfolders.

I havent yet.

I have 3.1 installed in a separate directory.
Working WinXP Pro system with 100 gigs of disk free:

First try, Zbrush 3.5 tried to start (hour glass) fora full minute, then gave message that I did not have enough free disk space; then I clicked passed that and got opening zbrush window. I quit zbrush and tried again:

This time, and on the next two tries Zbruhs 3.5 failed to start entirely, gave no error message; hour glass just keeps running for a few minutes until I finally kill zbrush process with ctrl-alt-del

Have not been able to start it.

It sounds like something has caused ZBrush to have insufficient permissions. It must be able to write to its own folder and subfolders.

Also, have you tried disabling DEP for ZBrush?
