The mask is working when masking in transpose mode but you have to click View Mask on first. Right now that button is not being automatically turned on.

… the same here, I know it is not funny - but even though this bug is not wide spread (seeing the posts here) >>> it is NOT you or me.
Hello!
I have a registration at the Zbrush-Center, how can I download Zbrush 3.5? Thanks.
Ok, after some time glued to the machine because of waiting for a mail, some additional time trying to see just a glimpse of the new kid, I got one final question concerning the further use of version 3.1:
Because, as things are it does not look very realistic that I will be using the actual version of ZBrush (no complaining, there’s enough to learn for me in the previous version 3.1), and I would hate to be kept from using 3.1 for no apperent reason.
On a side note (& still not complaining): I would rather have paid for a “normal” upgrade (equipped with things like a setup.exe) then to be forced to worry about some code in a “self contained folder”.
Quick question:
Is there a way to change the Alt Brush to something other than a Smooth brush in 3.5? I used to use a variation of the Flatten Brush as my Alt Brush a lot, but shift-clicking brushes no longer seems to do the trick.
im wondering why do ppl have problems with a .zip? i mean doesnt matter if its a setup or a .zip, the main point is that there is zbrush 3.5 inside
i did it ! thanks for your help
I hope its not now!!.. I’ve just had terrible issues with 3.5 and failed activation and now have lost 3.1 !! and been given the licence recovery stuff…
Has anyone else lost 3.1… as a result of failed 3.5 install.?
I don’t know if this is really valid, but without much fact to base it on… don’t change your computer name or description… it could be REALLY bad…
I’m a bit of a sorry camper at present…
Hello,
I have a new problem by the Zbrush 3.5 installation. I want to install Zbrush on my notebook with vista home premium 64. The installation on my desktop pc with xp 64 works, but not on the vista notebook.
Everytime I start the zbrush.exe only the blue-ring (waiting/working-symbol in vista) is coming. The blue-ring turns around and around and don´t go away… If I put the mouse-cursor on the zbrush-box in the taskbar I only see a blank window in the preview-window…
What I am doing wrong?
On my notebook was Zbrush 3.1 not installed (only on my desktop pc). Now I have read in this forum its possible to install Zbrush for single-working on the notebook too.
Maxmax, take this with a bit of salt… as I have had real issues with 3.5 activation, but the blue ring for me has been associated with double clicking the exe. and not running as an admin. For what its worth,… right click the exe and selsect run as admin. It should execute properly… but pls note hopefully it is not the cause of a failed activation as I have… I have Win vista 64bit…
I ve been trying to make 3.5 run smooth , yet the same problem persist - On launch a windows alert beep sounds , and only if i hit Alt then a window appears saying the disk is out of free space( disk has 200gig free( … From what i read this allows the program to run but with performance limitations . what i have tryied and yet not succeeding -
.Shortcut with run as admin
.DEP off
.Antivirus controled
Specs - Win XP x64 dual/core 8gig ram
If someone can add any clues to how this can be worked around…
Thank you
It would probably help a bit having a separate ‘install problems’, ‘registration issues’ threads as opposed to a mixture of user issues but I digress.
I’ve unzipped and executed zb. Zbrush appears on my taskbar, and in Task manager and a blank window appears on screen. The blank window is only vixible when you drag another window over the top. The exe is using between 47 and 52 % cpu ( dual cpus) and fixed memory around 16,500k.
Nothing happens, i’ve left it for a while and just get bored and stop the exe. I’ve installed the microsoft plugins and DEP is off.
I’ve tried with zb3.5 in prog(x86) in prog x86 in pixologic subdirectory , prog files, and in my normal graphics/zb3.5 directory with the same result.
I’ve disabled symantec, have adminstrative rights, full permissions etc.
The only thing that may be an issue is that the firewall is run through the server / hW firewall. Would this cause a problem?
I’m running XP pro 64 Sp2
Any help would be appreciated.

As noted above, the system is a Win XP-SP3 machine. After carefully reading all of the preceding messages in this thread, because the search function is just about useless, I discovered something I should have remembered. Error messages are often covered up by splash screens. I was receiving the error regarding a lack of disc space. Since this same error has now occurred on both my home machine (above) and my WinXP 64 machine at work, each with over 600GB of free memory, and permissions set to allow non-administrators to run, I have to remember to press enter or Alt, when starting ZBrush 3.5, then it will run.
I can wholeheartedly agree with preceding comments, that this is NOT an appropriate install method! It may be necessary to allow the exe to be placed on a much wider variety of hardware and OS combinations, but that should be compensated for by improving the install documents. Don’t ruin an excellent program by a crappy install routine. It makes life much more difficult for all of us.
Now that I am down to hitting the Alt or Enter button to start the program, how do I get past that and just have it start as requested?
No hard disc lack, no virtual memory lack, no configurable permissions that I can see. Now what?
I am running a lot of software that has the same problem. This is usually, if not always, the case on a machine with dual NICs (Network Interface Cards). Usually on a laptop, there is confusion between the wired LAN card, and the wireless. Make sure that whatever NIC you use when registering is the one that is always available. Laptops are problematic because the network card is often turned off when disconnected or running on battery.
So far, the only time 3.5 has crashed on me was when I painted a mask around a section of a Polymesh that was made from a Zsketch and when I clicked on the masked section to Blur/Soften the mask Z-Brush crashed.
Everything else seems to work properly.
heya, I’ve read through most of the pages but not all of them so I’m sorry if it’s been answered.
Anyways I’m trying to find out what happened to the transpose masking (holding CTRL and dragging on the mesh while in transpose mode). it seems to have been replaced by some measurement tool?
Maybe you should just try having zbrush for 4 days now without being able to run it. I assure you that then you´d join our club.
To all those with the spinning hour glass:
I had this one, too.
Until - until I reinstalled the driver for my Nvidia card (9600GT), and left out the NVidia desktop!
I still get the message about not enough space, but now 3.5 is activated and runs (after that silly message has been klicked away).
This is not flawless (this error message IS annoying), but it is nice for a change to see a bit of the new kid.
Good luck to you all!
every 1st zbrush 3.5 startup after reboot or regular systemboot will launch zbrush with a wrong window postion (anything but fullscreen) with maximize/minimize buttons out of screen boundaries. after forced quit of zbrush and a restart the window position is correct.
anybody with that problem, too? any solutions?
btw, sorry - haven’t found this problem in this thread - if it’s already cleared please provide link to thread.
thanks!
