Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 3.5 Windows

Nope, when I click Start Activation, I get no congratulation screen with activation code, just the “This page is for users who would like to activate the Windows version of ZBrush 3.5”

  • I downloaded the latest Java
  • I have tried it in Firefox and IE
  • I have tried it many many times now…

Which version of your browsers are you running? Is it the most current version? For example, with IE it is version 8.0.6. You can tell the version number by clicking Help>About.

I cannot get the 3.5 version to activate. It worked once, but on the second start, gave error as… licence fail on activation … have tried all sorts of variations and at this stage gone through what I’ve seen in the FAQ’s… requesting resend of code, deleting the zsc file etc… It seems that the activation code I have is either wrong or there is something that stops it registering as correct. (I have all the original documentations received from original purchase of 3.1 and from the 3.5 update etc…) Why the heck would it be so difficult…:o
Hoping that there is some current info that may help…

Please try deleting your ZBrush 3.5 folder and downloading again. There is a download link in the email with your serial number, which was sent after you upgraded. An updated version is available with some modifications to the activation system. (Anyone who is successfully activated does NOT need to download the updated version.)

Same here!!!

Regarding the ticket – you can submit a ticket without being registered.

I just wanted to be clear whether it is permissible to register Zbrush 3.5 on my desktop computer and my laptop. Obviously I can use my laptop where I can’t use the desktop. I mostly use the desktop as it is the more powerful, but having the option is most useful. I did read the EULA but I am not sure I understand that section fully.

Thanks,

Dave

Yes. The license still allows ZBrush to be installed on two computers, provided both copies aren’t actually used at the same time.

Yeah, I noticed it a few minutes after sending the post and sent a critical call for help  Still waiting for a reply though.

Thanks for the info anyway.

23arts: Do the setup in the “troubleshoot help” folder and than go to repair. Then start zbrush again. Now it works offline;)

What do you mean by “go to repair”?
–aurick

Hi Aurick,

I mean to repair the MS Visual C++ 2008. Sorry about my english!

Hi,

Zbrush 3.5 doesn’t start under WIn2K with a missing entry point for AddVectoredExceptionHandler in kernel32.dll.

Looking in the msdn doc, it seems that this function is supported only in XP and higher.

Best regards,
Patrick

Hi,

I’m unable to run ZBrush 3.5 on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM, I don’t really want to go back to Vista or XP. All I am seeing is a blank screen when I run the Zbrush.exe file, no error message. I installed the Troubleshoot files without any help.

Please help me solve this matter.

Kind regards,
Phantium

Have you told Vista to run ZBrush as administrator?
–aurick

Aurick, I’m using Windows 7. Not vista, yes I run as administrator. Blank window.

Im about to install this on the same OS, Il let you know how it goes. If its fine, then its a hardware or specific driver problem, most likely graphics.

Hi, I have downloaded and activated with the web option zbrush 3.5 friday evening without problem,it worked perfectly in 5 minutes,no problem at all.
Today Pixologic send me an activation file to put on zbrush 3.5 folder,it’s not clear to me if I really need to use that activation file as all seem working allready perfect.
It’s really needed?
Bye

No. That file is only needed by people who did not copy the activation code from the congratulations screen and paste it into ZBrush.
–aurick

Well I don’t think so, I have used it fine on this machine before with the same drivers. It must be related to something else, but we’ll see. Please let me know.

Aurick, here is a screenshot of what I am seeing.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM.

I understand this is probably being addressed, but I am curious

1) Occ Masking - Is there a way to save the Mask? (at 4Mil Polys it takes a while to calculate)
:large_orange_diamond: You should be able to create a texture from the mask. In tool palette in the Texture section. You’ll need UVs for the texture. - Richard

1a) How to CLAER an Occlusion Mask?
After i created an Occ Mask, I filled the oject with 100% RGB, but I cannot get rid of the Occ.
:large_orange_diamond: Must fill the mesh with Material + RGB to get rid of the Occ Mask.

2) Macro - How to Load a Macro? I created a 10x smooth Macro> save, but it is not listed, or able to be loaded.

Cheers!

You should be able to create a texture from the mask. In tool palette in the Texture section. You’ll need UVs for the texture.
