Just some thoughts/ranting…
Octane uses GPU and the cost is around the same compared to Keyshot ZBrush version.
Keyshot standalone is simplified yet overpriced for what you get out of it when compared to other competitors. I think they cater to big corporations who need something quick/easy for advertisement/products, 1-2K is chump change for them.
Will Keyshot be forgotten or integrated/improved come Zbrush 5? Will Zbrush 5 have its own improved/revamped render system?
I never liked Zbrush render/material visuals at all, it just looks dreary/fake most of the time, even at its best. I was really wanting a new render engine in Zbrush, good physically based shaders/materials. Who know maybe it requires an overhaul to achieve.
Will Pixo charge for Zbrush 5, how much?..Would like to know where I need to invest most in. If so maybe those who bought previous gen will get next gen free.
I hope Pixo don’t go the way of the CLOUD…I don’t always have a connection and hate subscriptions. Forced permanent renting is not cool.
I don’t want to throw around money. Saved up for a while and Got Zbrush at 4r6 less than a year ago and now I am introduced with this nifty render/plugin I wanted Zbrush to handle.
Compared to others 4r7 is the smallest update I have seen released to date including 64 bit beta, took awhile as well. There isn’t much more to add I suppose, but allot can be further improved upon. I’m thinking they have more big polished guns up their sleeve reserved for Zbrush 5, possible overhaul in the works since it is going 64bit.
Rumors of Zb5 on the horizon with possible charge/fee. A big incentive for me finally getting Zbrush was the free upgrades making the price worth it.
I need to be assured Keyshot will be worth investment down the line. Is this the only bridge Pixo has planned? Or will Zb5 feature a plugin system to pick your supported render engine? I don’t want to be suckered into $250 nerfed Keyshot early adopter then something much better comes along.
It just seems unclear at this point in how Pixo is going to handle this. I guess we’ll just have to await details.
I know they aren’t stupid enough to shaft their customers, so far. I am just covering bases/possible outcomes.
Looking forward to more details/news.
