Presenting ZBrush 4R7 (Updated with Summit Recaps)

Great job Pixo team. Enjoyed every day of the Summit. Now the long wait (hopefully not too long) for 4r7.

I recently purchased 4R6 as a supplement to my Maya modeling workflow. Now after seeing 4R7 in action at the Summit this weekend, I may never use Maya’s modeling tools again. I’ve always been dissatisfied with Maya’s bridge and instancing tools, and those two actions were easy as ever in the new Zbrush update.

Hell, once Pixologic adds animation, rigging and compatibility with V-ray/Arnold, Autodesk may end up obsolete.

I’m wondering why you’re charging for the keyshot bridge in the first place… isn’t that what ZAppLink and GoZ were supposed to be? Bridges to other apps?

Not to be Sandy V, but the guy who’s MC’ing these presentations is completely obnoxious. You can only play coy so much before it gets really irritating… “Oh, what ever do I do? What’s this feature do? Oh wow! I’m so impressed!” etc.

Great summit! Wish I could have seen it all. Really excited about the next FREE upgrade to ZBrush. Looks awesome as always. You guys just keep hitting it out of the park!

WHAT!!! AWESOME!!!
Truly Humbled!!!

EDIT!
Okay I’m really crying now! I have always wanted a wings3d and ZBrush to combine! Its finally happened!
OMG! This update can not come fast enough! My heart swells! Thank you PIXOLOGIC!!! You all are truly the best ever!!!

I have more from Day 2 and Day 3 recorded will take requests.

@jawa64, do you have the Gentle Giant or Grassetti videos?

Yeah, you know what man. There, were so many awesome things that I wish I had every single minute of all three days. It’s so sad I had to work so much this weekend. Today is the start of my weekend and I missed 90% of The Summit Of Lifetime. Hopefully Pixologic will have an encore cast?!?! wishful thinking with fingers crossed
I caught about 45 minutes of a gentleman modeling a hero brute and talking about lunch crunch. His methods and knowledge were wicked awesome to share! I can only imagine what the other hours of the days were like.

the zmodeler menu ?:

(maybe already figured out, but the thread is long!)

“A single poly” (or Zpoly, is that a thing?)
“behind”
“behind and polygroup”
“similar”

maybe it helps?

cheers,
cw

Do you have by any chance the RedStorm bit ?

Hi Aurick and the rest of the team…

Super Summit… I missed a lot due to the time difference, but what I saw saw Great… I assume these will all be up to view later… and thanks again for yet another free upgrade coming soon…

I am waiting like a 8 year old on Christmas Eve…

Regards Ziggy

I would love to see all presentations again (I missed quite a few because of the time difference). So much valuable knowledge! Thanks for organising the event.:+1:

What a great summit Pixologic my thanks to you and all the presenters. I am reinvigorated and inspired by the wealth of knowledge and skill of the presenters and excited by the innovations coming in Z4r7. I have not been very active here recently given work and life… you all know the drill I’m sure. The summit was a fantastic motivator thanks again.

Dave

I really enjoyed the Summit (missed most of the first day unfortunately), watching via livestream (Roku) from the UK.

Completely stoked about the upcoming 4R7 additions, and a fantastic entry price into Keyshot.

I know many people are not quite as pleased, perhaps, but being someone who (a) has to pay for every single bit of 3D software with a (b) non-educational price as I’m a © old geezer who does this stuff for fun outside of ‘real life’ and (d) owns far too much 3D software that starts off great but sells out to bigger corporations and become very ‘generic’, it’s extremely refreshing and comforting to see Pixologic demonstrate the pure passion they have in this area, and that they keep heading on with their vision, rather than becoming the same as every other bit of software out there.

The poly usability reminded me of the great work started (and then unfortunately lost) by Truspace many years ago - it was quirky, and often frowned upon by ‘professionals’, but they nailed the creativeness in ways many other software hasn’t reproduced.

I hope Pixologic keep doing what they’re doing (and are able to do so) for many years to come. It’s the sort of company I wish I’d applied to in my younger past, as this is what creative software should be about.

Anyway, yes - great summit - I look forward to it next year !

Show me the 4R7 download link…my cursor is on the Pay now button

This way of presenting the new features is great. Lots of fun watching you work and explain everything. You are truly amazing! Thanks for making Zbrush!

Does 4R7 support of N-gons? I ask because i do not see the use of Cut Tool(or Add Edge Tool analog) or other non-full-loop addition of edges in presentation.

I liked the summit alot it was so informative not only because of the new Zbrush r7 features which i found AWESOME

but also for the great presentations from artists within the industry. One learns alot of things just seeing other people work, understand better their processes, needs , techniques and so on. Hope i will be able to find those presentations even off line, because being from Italy, i missed some of them in day 2 and one.

About R7 feautures i would like to know if zremesher saw some sort of evolution, becoming more precise especially for hardsurface models, or if we can expect that more for Zbrush 5 release later in time.

for you uBu
