Internet isn’t required unless you want to active Zbrush Online. Highly recommended because it is a super fast process.
Holding off on purchasing a new laptop so I don’t end up making a bad hardware investment.
Totally subjective opinion of mine: CPU is priority: at least i5 equivalent but i7 is more future-proof. RAM at least 8G. Cooling/ventilation very very very important.
GPU less important but stay futureproof and get at least a GTX580 grade of any brand, just in case other hybrid or GPU-only render plugins become available.
Seems we’ve been looking at these images for months now since the first announcement
Very glad i asked as I missed that post. Thank you

Thank you for the info and good to know as my day job computer is only connected to the net about once every 2 months for updates.

I am thinking a Surface Pro 3 i7 might be a bad investment. With it being so compact I think ventilation / cooling would become a issue.
A better investment might be to continue on with my Alienware laptop and use a Cintiq Companion Hybrid or Cintiq 13HD unless there is a better suggestion you might have for a graphics tablet.
i will go with cintiq 13HD if you’re home work… however, if you move often outside, go take the cintiq companion because it’s what it was done for.
My girlfriend has the cintiq companion 512gb windows version. Shes let me borrow it a few times. gotta say, although pricey, an amazing piece of technology. stays cool. long battery life. handels like a dream. Highly recommend it. I feel like wacom should be releasing a second version soonish, so Im saving for that otherwise id already have bought one.
I have the cintiq companion windows 512 too, bought it just to Z. Solid and won’t bake an egg yes, but clunky, so so battery life and has volume issue.
I’m also not a heavy paint app user thus not hung up on pen resolution or Wacom anything. To keep from carpal tunnel I recently stopped using Intuous5 and switched to zBrushing with an Anywhere mouse, which actually kinda worked esp with hard surface.
When Surface Pro 3 came out I was having buyer’s remorse. Apparently SP3 has overheating issue that’s been officially acknowledged. The latency rate is enviable though, good to see some competition pressure for Wacom the driver sadist. All round SP3 is a better laptop replacement, and cintiq is more specific in purpose. Lots of utube reviews comparing the above.Guess it depends on your attachment to pressure sensitivity. Good luck shopping…
Yeah, I got a Surface Pro 2 earlier this year with the idea of zBrushing. I hate the thing and find zBrush practically unusable. ArtDocker makes it possible, but still quite chunky to use.
I just got a small Intuos Pro earlier this week, and finally graduated off the mouse. I love that thing!! Although I’m still getting used to it and clicking random stuff around my screen with devastating results lol
hey Aurick, you are the best informed, at my home it says “no news good news”…what do you think about the silence of pixo on our gem release??
do you think that we can obtain the new version “on fall” or before xmas how said pixo???
thx
I saw the release statement by Luxology, and it said this and the bridge will be released before end of the year.
It’s still two weeks before the end of autumn. I think being concerned now is a little premature.
Well Said!
Just bring it before my trip to Tokyo over christmas

I have found that going to Preferences then Performance then shutting off QuickAndDirtyEdit works for me. No more artifacts when sculpting. It really didn’t seem to affect performance or at least not anything I noticed.
OH! Thanks so much. I’ll give that a try! NICE!

When it is ready… I just comfort myself by thinking that one day soon, rather than people asking “when”, this thread will say “it’s here!” That will be a good day!
