Presenting ZBrush 4R7 (Updated with Summit Recaps)

Today is the 1 dec…winter starts at 21 dec…20 days to hands on zb4r7!! Xmas this year is not 25dec…is one day from today until 21 dec…

Final system requirements haven’t yet been announced. I don’t think that support for Vista is being discontinued at this time but I can’t promise that won’t change between now and launch. System requirements have historically been one of the last things to be finalized with each new version.

Thanks for the reply Aurick. I’m guessing that I could just stick with R6 if it isn’t supported and upgrade when I put together a new machine.

Many thanks for your reply. Very encouraged I’ve made the right choice.

Cheers for your input. I’m sure the Cintiq is better for 2d illustration. Cintiq is a tablet made by Wacom by the way . I presume you were meaning the Intuos range. I think I know where you are coming from, but tried that and not really in favour of the eye/hand coordination route. But thanks.

Many thanks. Likewise, found the intuos disconnected me from the work. My personal experience, might not be the same for all. Looking at the advertisements I believe the 22hd can be set at different angles and very easy to manoeuvre when you want to change. Hope it lives up to that.

Cheers guys. Think my new 8.5kg baby boy is a keeper! :+1:

I think that it would be nice if Pixologic released some video tuts on the new f<layer highlight=“term-1” class=“searchwp-term searchwp-highlight-searchwp-highlighting”>eat</layer>ures so that we could -if not use R7 already - at least get to know what to expect - it could fill those lonely nights of expectation

And I dont mean vids like the Summer summit but real tutorials made by veteran Zbrush experts.

20 days to go guys. :D:lol: (At least until the tentative deadline is over ;))

My 4 year old boy asked me today how many more days until Christmas and I responded with “20 days”, my wife quickly corrected me by saying it’s 25 days. My boy then asked why did I tell him it’s 20 days. I responded that it’s the end of fall and possible release of zbrush 4r7 and to me that’s Christmas. He then looked puzzled and responded with… “You’re crazy dad”!

I think that it would be nice if Pixologic released some video tuts on the new features

Yeah, that’d be awesome! I’d love to the opportunity to watch the tuts before the release

Your son is correct… were all going Crazy…

words from Pink Floyd’s song “Crazy toys in the attic…” change attic the waiting…

I’ve put a paid project on the back burner while I patiently await this release. It’s not that I can’t do the project with my current tools, it’s that budget for the project isn’t sufficient enough for me to sit around designing it with old school poly modeling methods.

While the current tools are great for hard-surface work, the techniques don’t always equal production friendly models. I find I have to work with a certain amount of poly’s to get a good result, a number that sometimes exceeds that of where I want to be. 4R7 should eliminate this problem. At least from what I’m seeing.

So please pixologic, with the deepest amount of respect for what you do and how long coding such a masterpiece takes, at least give us a ballpark estimate as to when you plan to release. 2 weeks? 2 months?

It felt like a release was imminent in August, when you demoed this shiz. Almost 4 months later, I’m bored of looking at this cluster f of a thread to learn once again, it’s not been released.

I understand your situation and I also want it, but in the past they sent e-mails that give download instructions etc.
I am pretty shure things will be the same this time.
From 32 to 64 bit is not exactly programming for newbies. We all want as little problems as possible, and that is where they are working on.

jajaja,the gem is coming soon…!!!
so calm and relax! all the updates since 2001 are preceded with the same situations, projects that need the new version, etc…,desesperate people and so on…
lets they work…and still are29 days before “at the end” of the year.
Remember the gem take its own time:D:D

No no guys…why you are talking about 'the end of the year ’ Pixologic said this Fall…this is different !!! Hahaha you are joking…my xmas is at maximum on 21/12 and not on 31/12!!!or not!? Anything is changed?

In 2014, winter begins on December 21, 6:03 P.M. EST.:sunglasses:

I don’t want to burst any bubbles but Pixo has missed previously announced release dates many times in the past, sometimes by several months. It will come when it will come.

Truth be told…

"I don’t want to burst"but burst and burst:D:D you dont want to open but…you open! jajajaj stay calm and relax is the better way to wait the gem!

Na na na…:rage:small_orange_diamond:D Impossible!! My pixo dont miss nothing!! If they said this Fall is this Fall. Sure…

Just in case I missed it and so I don’t kick myself later for not asking.

Has anyone seen any tech specs on 4R7 and the version of Keyshot planning on being used?

Specifically any recommended computer hardware requirements and if a internet connection will be required to run any part of zBrush after upgrade.

Holding off on purchasing a new laptop so I don’t end up making a bad hardware investment.

the question has been asked and answered. refer to post #715 on page 48 of this thread. aurick himself speaks on whats important as far as specs go. long story short, have a good processor. and ram never hurts to have either.

edit: as far as internet goes, i dont think it will be neccesary. but i havent seen anyone comment on that.
