WHEN WHEN ?? TELL ME WHEN !!??! I NEED THIS NOW !!
PIXO - You can kill Mari by adding the same textureing workflow !! I would love it !! like, totally !! I won’t need maya with 4r7, so with no mari either would be amazinggggggggg

Mari is like 2 grand, it’s way overkill and not even an option for most of us. It’s basically a hybrid of ZBRUSH and PHOTOSHOP. Projection Painting, Painting on UVS etc…
I was thinking of purchasing Allegorithmic Substance Painter.
Tuts
I’ve already purchased Photoshop 2014 CC and Quixel Suite and I absolutely LOVE IT! If you try it you may get faster more realistic results than Mari…

Thanks mate !!
Im not sure what’s Quixel for… I’ll have a look at the vid when I get home.
But Substance Painter is quite Something !! You recon is better than Mari ??
I own the allegorithmic pro suite and it’s very much amazing. It does have a bit of a learning curve starting up but the procedural textures and PBR materials is well worth it. With substance painter you automatically adjust the normal map etc too based on materials you are using so you can get some really nice effects by the time you’re ready to export without having to edit the mesh again. I spend most of my texturing workflow in substance designer though. Just take the low poly zbrush subdiv and high poly zbrush subdiv and bake the normal map, curvature and uv mask directly in designer. Once thats done it’s a snap to make a full PBR substance that you can import directly into maya for and for rendering in UE4 etc. The substance viewer also allows you to export whatever you want that was exported. Since it’s procedural you can export params to adjust the material on the fly. And I love the fact that that both designer and painter is multi material. If zbrush starts supporting substances I’d be one really happy customer, but for now it’s still fun and easy to create new materials on the fly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ETs6v9HlVk the rendering panel that they have in the video I posted is almost always on par with MTB and I can’t tell you the last time I used marmoset.
Mari is NICE is you have a super computer and THOUSANDS to spend! But really bro it is really a waste for an indie artist or hobbyist.
I’m not saying any is better because WE have amazing ARTIST that are GETTING PHOTO-REALISTIC textures right out of ZBRUSH!
I guess when your BROKE you learn how to make LIMITATIONS work for YOU.
Wealth often causes confusion…
I try to limit the apps I use, I wan’t to be “HOKAGE” I mean a “ZBRUSH MASTER” one DAY!
QUIXEL SUITE is just AWESOME for ENVIRONMENTS!
By one ARTIST in 10 days using QUIXEL
I did look into quixel studio but that was after I already had the allegorithmic suite. I did try the beta and it really is very nice, but I just can’t compare it to substance tools. Although the price is much higher for all the tools on substance. The last thing I’ll probably get from them is the bitmap to material being able to use all the baking features and templating would make for a great workflow, and with 4r7 I wouldn’t really need maya anymore, except for animations & uhh fbx exports?
This thread is really not the place to be debating the merits of other software packages.
Thanks.
Aurick just reminded me of the Kindergarten teacher at my sons school. I went and spent the day helping out. A group of little kids kept interrupting the teacher all morning long by whispering about Minecraft. The teacher kept having to stop and scold them for interrupting. Haha.
SO fall huh, feels MORE like WINTER here in Kansas…snow coming tomorrow. 15 degrees out! Sure would be nice to have some Zbrush 4R7 to break out and play with. Hmm? Is begging allowed?
ooops sorry
Got a bit off topic.
The UI isn’t changing, we are just getting new tools activated through keyboard shortcuts… correct?
Any NEW updates on progress or screenshots would be really considerate.
I’m sure before a major update such as this allot of documentation and tutorials have to be created to illustrate implementation of the new tools, so I can imagine this taking a considerable amount of time and money.
Any new detail would be awesome at this point please, and thank you.
Thanks Aurick, the team responded with positive approach in a very short time… guys keep it up we know you are hard at work… stick to the Java and well lift a glass of the finest to you all when it hits the Web…
Ziggy

Eh, can you repost that. In plain English if possible.
I think he meant can we expect anything new in the polypainting area?
The last time I stood out of my chair was for Grand Theft Auto 4. You guy’s suck, I can not sleep and I am constantly checking for updates lol. Can you guy’s give a rough time frame of when you will have a release date, with no set in stone expectations? A round about time of the time, if you will?
I’ll bet 100 pixels that they announce the release of 4R7 at CTN next weekend
the week after thanksgiving would be my guess. i’d love to be wrong about sooner rather than latter.
As history has proven it will come out when it is ready.
