Presenting ZBrush 4R7 (Updated with Summit Recaps)

Loki said it best… im SUPER excited and cannot wait to hear an official release date. I feel like we are in Winter of 2014 now… lmao BUT I am ALWAYS okay with waiting a little longer should the designers think things need tweaking to be released perfectly. Its like video game release delays. I appreciate the extra time being taken to provide an excellent product… even though im dying inside… lol

Haha,

I really enjoy this thread.
So much impatience & curiosity paired with speculations.

It is like sitting on a big family table with thousands of children around.
Very close to Christmas.
BUT the calender is lost.
No one knows exactly when and not precisely what they get.
One is for sure
THEY WANT IT NOW!

I think daddy Pixo can be proud to release something everyone can’t wait for.
Take your time.
No prob.
Meanwhile I’ll throw some cookie crumbs at my neighbour, cause I just can’t sit still

i THINK SOME PEOPLE WANT IT TO BE RELEASED NOW, BECAUSE THE HOLIDAYS ARE AROUND THE CORNER. MEANING LESS TIME TO EXPLORER OR THEY DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PURCHASE IT, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL OUT OF MONEY.

NOTHING I JUST SAID EFFECTS ME

It’s very meditative! lol

Ive been busy sculpting and only just found out about the new releases coming, ive taken in a lot of information but am i right in saying this 4r7 update is any week now  and the Zbrush 5 update is several/6+ months away? i do hope 4r7 is before Christmas…it’ll be like having 2 Christmas’s

Bah ha ha ha ha!!! Awesome!!!

Hey everyone!

I’m new to the forum. I’ve read a bit about ZBrush and am in a bit of a debate due to this update. Should I purchase 4R6 and get started on getting used to the interface and then update, or should I wait till 4R7 comes out and then just go from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I’m loving what I’ve seen and read about 4R7! It looks absolutely amazing!

Christmas break would be a great time to get stuck in and learn the new features. I kind of hoped to be learning them now during mid-term break, looks like I will have to party the week out instead.

You can directly buy it now because the updates will be life-time free. Yes, you read it right : totally free! So that mean buy once and get free updates!

That needs to be corrected as it may unintentionally mislead potential new purchasers of ZBrush.
Pixologic have told us the upgrade from 4R6 to 4R7 will be free. But they haven’t yet announced if lifetime upgrades after that will be free or not.

just go for it mate the interface will change slightly not enough to throw you off completely. i’d be surprised if you noticed the changes at first
hope this helps

Well, you can be happy to be wrong : it’s been for almost 15 years that pixology always offer free upgrades to any registered users of Zbrush, look at me for example, I bough Zbrush since 2009 and it was Zbrush 4, then I did keep upgrading it since a while. Today, I’m now at Zbrush 4r6 and I soon upgrade it to 4R7 which it will soon come out at any time. Not only that, I haven’t pay anything for these upgrades because I already bough my Zbrush license. so, I was right to say that it will always remind it as free for the upgrades.

By the way, you can ask Aurick about it and you will see that he will say exactly what I’m saying.

That may be the case but the version for you has always been zbrush 4. I am not so sure that going from 4-5 will be the same as from 4r6 - 4r7. Sadly I got a funny feeling we gonna have to pay for 64bit pleasures:confused:

They never promised there will be free updates forever but I bought version 3 many years ago and never payed again. This R7 version will be free and there will be a FREE 64Bit version. I see no reason to doubt or wait if you want to buy ZBRUSH now.
So I don’t expect this to be free forever but I do thank them sincerely every time they give away things for free.

dillster is correct. They have stated that 4r6 to 4r7 will be a free upgrade. They have NOT suggested that ZB5 will be free or paid.

As allaze-eroler has stated, there have been many free upgrades over how many years. Fact. That DOES NOT suggest that ZB5 will be free.

Like James Crabb, I also get the feeling that there will be a parting of cash for ZB5. As a hobbyist I hope I’m wrong. But if so, please make it tiny for us non-profs Pix.

It is NOT lifetime free upgrades.

We have never yet charged for an upgrade but that does not mean that we never will. In fact, when we first started we said that upgrades were only going to be free through version 1.56 or something like that. (It’s too many years for me to remember the specific version number anymore.) Since then, each release has been decided on an individual basis and so far the decision has always been for them to be free.

BUT sooner or later we will start charging for upgrades. I just don’t know when. All that I can promise is that 4R7 will be a free upgrade.

[Edit] Never mind. Aurick’s on the case.

Thanks for the clarification Aurick!

Just my luck that I finally decide to get Zbrush before version 5 then
