"All applications are eventually going to have an option for subscriptions… Providing consumers multiple options is the fair way to accommodate all.
Or suffer the wrath of hackers which generally they don’t care if it’s 20 bucks they are going to do what they do…
Options allow artist to follow their conscience and stick to a legitimate result. Not having options or demos is like leaving hundreds of $100 dollar bills in the passenger seat of an unlocked luxury car parked in a bad neighborhood, that temptation can force the best to commit a crime.
Younger and younger artist are getting involved and they are learning from online based sites such as Digitaltutors.com or Lynda.com, instead of going to non-traditional colleges that are extremely expensive such as FullSail.edu…
So they don’t have the care package that universities provide with the nice cpu and all the thousand dollar programs…
ZBrush
OPTION 1: Subscription based - $40 dollars a month- activated by logging into your pixologic account
Option 2: Or ONE time fee for $800 includes updates
Option 3: Academic: $100 annually"
ya… and a monkey will fly out my butt when that happens.
No thank you. the Current Model is working. No need to change it.
I am sick to death of paying through the nose for my software.
I blew $500 on Zbrush 3.1 it was the best buy I ever made. I spent an aditional 350$ on an intuos wacom tablet. I savedand saved for those. At that time it was a reachable goal. I will not pay thousands for continual use of Zbrush over the next many years of my use of it. Many Many Many others do agree with me. Many buy Zbrush because of the free updates. As for hackers… they are dealt with.
Not everyone who uses Zbrush works for some ridiculous Hollywood Media Firm who bleeds money like blood from an uncooked bag of Hagus.
A significant portion of us are hobby artist, who legitimately paid for zbrush.
40$ and month my ass. 800$ a year??? ya right.
