very eye catching these blue jade / glow in the dark renders. The zombies and skeletons are quite disturbing. I am interested to know if the renders from the first page are zbrush3 only? The slimy skeleton is fantastic!
That’s awesome…
There was also a series where only certain parts of the model were Glow In The Dark(wtf?!). i.e. Dracula’s left hand would glow, but not his right, and one of three bats in the trees would glow. Even as a youngster I found that odd.
I’d love to see an animation of some kid’s Aurora models coming to life on the shelf (like Toy Story for Squids*)
*If I have to explain, I will
Still goofing around with the fog deal. This is a model that I started a while back when I was trying to figure out transpose I never finished it especially the anatomy, but I figured the fog effect wouldcover up the lack of finish
Great!!!
Figure is waiting for bus?
No, best guess >> he’s waiting to start breathing again (some challenge within the tribe, he who can hold his breath the longest - without turning purple - might wed & bed the shaman’s daughter).
He’s doing fine by this standards, a long way to turning purple with the green he managed to keep for quite a while now.
Great pic.
The grownup version of Flubber?
No he is waiting for 3.0
Rick, I’m a fan. That’s all I’m going to say.
Dude I’m seeing ‘Frazetta’ in this look, very cool!
No he is waiting for 3.0
My compliments sir, not onlydo you create well, you reply well!!!
A bit patient, isn’t he?
Great work.
I have some very cool Japanese toys that I ordered from Japan of underwater creatures (About 1.5 in. tall), they look cool in daylight but at night you flip a switch and a small blacklight lights them and they glow…very similar to your experiments with the FOG. Love the effect on your more recent work, they are very smooth and clean…love the colors too.
Keep them coming
Hi MM, the glow via. fog effect is neat. I assume that zb3 still has the glow and colored glow materials. You should play with those too. I bet they would interact with the fog nicely.
Hi, MonsterMaker,
This is a wonderful expression of the sculpture created by Malvina Hoffman (student of Rodin) for her Hall of Man project. I recommend her book ‘Heads and Tales’ for anyone curious about creating bronzes for museums. The original piece was titled: ‘Shilluk Warrior, Northeast Africa’ (page 154).

I’ve tried to post an image but for some reason I’m not allowed to.
Nice work Rick.
Snark,You are right it and I meant to point it out was based on the Hoffman sculpture but it is a poor copy of her beautiful work. The bushman or should I say bushwoman was also based on her work only hers wasn’t old. I love her sculptures especially her Hall of Man project.
Billrobertson, I didn’t know that there was a colored glow material .I’ll have to check that out.
marcus, yes he is patient he was also really fat when he started waiting but it is worth the wait
Jason , actually as Snark pointed out it has a Hoffman look the original piece was done years before Frazetta cool work.Speaking of which have any of you seen the really great documentary that has been playing on cable TV about Frank and his work I think it is called Painting with Fire and it is definitely worth watching.
se7enthcin,Thanks I glad to know that there is at least one out there
Hi, MonsterMaker,
Your interpretations are spot-on. Malvina’s ‘Hall of Man’ project is simply extraordinary. She was allowed to travel the world for 7 years, using a trawler as a foundry base, allowed to wade into global jungles and record ethnic portraits at will. She was known in the South Pacific as ‘Mud Woman’ because of her ability to record personality in terracotta with such objection. It is a great shame that her collection has been allowed to be de-constructed and spread across the globe. I remember access to the the chamber of her work (before disemination) and noted that the breasts of the women were quite polished because the public had fondled them all with such care. Will her work ever be consolidated again? Who knows. I also highly recommend the IFC documentary “Painting With Fire” … the story of Frank Frazetta. You will be changed.

I love the last one! The pose is awesome and he’s very elegant looking. Would love to see it printed into some sort of crystal material, or dark opaque material. I think either would work.
Back hangin out with the ZBrush3 deprived, eh? Or is that the ZBrush depraved?
I think I like that effect best on your post 291 with the two views of the head. It seems a lot less harsh without the stark specularity.
The mention of Frazetta got me started looking for a book of prints I have. I’ll have to watch for the show you mentioned.
It looks like that Hoffman is in a museum in Chicago -
I have a lot reading this thread. Thank you everybody.
BTW, I’ve been waiting for z3 a long time too, but I’m still fat.
