Hi MtB
Do you will be “distressed” if somebody find your effect in only one layer ?
My dictionnary (sic) give me to grieve, to distress, to afflict

Ps the Alpha Century have actally 20 pages !

that bengal dragon is topnotch, Lonnie! cant wait for the insights you explorers come up with when back from fiberistan!

Fiberistan was cool! Need to go back though…didn’t see everything…lol
This next image shows the difference between flat color mat grass on the wormy thing and a basicmaterial tall/outside grass. Haven’t baked anything yet.
Hey, anyone need a Beryllium Sphere?
"This is your Brain…
this is your Brain on Beryllium."
Still testing out the Duplicate layer technique:
I just had to add in the Preview Render versions because they were just as cool, if not better.
For the spheres, I applied a ‘noisy’ texture as an alpha selection (SELECTION:ALP), and then did some Inflating/Smoothing. Then I did some light ZSub damage, duplicated the layer, and changed the material and color of the second layer. I also moved it back 1 pixol before I applied the Blur brush to average the pixols of the second layer.
Hi Jay
It’s funny because I have just seen this movie yesterday Galaxy Quest
“Never give up, never surrender!”
Funny film indeed
Curious that an Official Site is coupled with Amazon.com !?!

Just one try with Michael-Lonnie tecnique!
Interesting images!
Mentat, can you post a step by step of your toon like second one or just the first one… I’m a little confused.
Nice work, great to see this technique developing/evolving.
thnx for the inspiration to doodle a bit this morning ya’ll. My distressed brain, wish I had started my canvas out larger, but o well, live and learn…now I have had my fun of the day, back to work…
This thread has been very insirational to read through. The experiments done, and posted, are all quite amazing. Here’s my attempt at MTB’s distressed technique. My thanks to you, for the zscript; and to Mentat for getting this whole thing going. Both your contributions to this forum are encouraging, appreciated and darn near priceless.
First test. I think it more my own style than Pix’s.
Great fungus and needles.
I think it would appear more life-like if there were shadows cast by the needles onto themselves and the branches. The lack of almost any shadows and most shading makes it seem like a flat botany illustration.
Aw man ron! It looks juicy and chewy at the same time…lol!
Nice image Lon! Are those mushrooms?
Wicked cool trick!
Yeah jay, time to try some baked tests now.
Actually Jay there ARE shadows. You can see a huge difference between the rendered and non-rendered image.
Hi gang, lotsa cool tests
Here’s a quick doodle I did using the technique:
I used the blur brush and sharpen brush on baked layers. No postwork.
wow that’s brilliant GRUb , I really like that one
These pics are just great Just thought to drop by and mention it…
I love the lava guy!
