OK let’s just open this up to anyone who wants to give it a go. I am trying to achieve that cool rock looking texture that Pixolator uses in his Dino Thread. So far I have come up with these two tests. No where near what Pix achieved but perhaps I am on to something. If anyone else would like to contribute please do. I used the Quadshader material on this with noise and color bump in all four channels. I set the diffuse and specular colors to gray in the first pic but I use the specularity settings in very small settings.
looks great but following in pix foot steps!
wont be easy!!!
Good idea Mentat, I’ll join in on this tomorrow.
Yeah, great idea Lonnie!
Great Idea.
I’m in , I’ll be posting something later…
But it’ll be more like a total landscape …
Rock & Roll
Well I am still not there. Here’s another test. I diverged a little but it still looks interesting…
I just tried some shapes in his landscape …
I think I am on to something…it would appear that the Diffuse setting, Diffuse Graph, and Noise Curve graph are very instrumental in getting this to work. Here is the latest test pic and the materials and lights.
getting close there lonnie
A few tweaks…I think this is the general technique. I really like this effect.
well i tried lol
oh well hehe
i cant wait for a tutorial explaining this!
good job on urs Mentat and Namek
what a great work mentat7(as always)very very similar, great rendering and material parameters too,and the namek you are done a beautifull landscape!Me too i want to make my picture maybe i make it tomorrow good luck all zbrushers!
Not exactly IT , but I thought it looked quite neat
very neat indeed
Yes, super-neato-bandito
“With all this foam, there’s GOT to be a rabid, zombie, goat-demon in here somewhere!!”
Well, while we are waiting on Pixolator, The Namek could give us a quick tutorial on how the above material/model was created… (hint, hint)
Nice images lonnie. I can’t wait to go home and fiddle around with Z.
Very cool namek!!!
Great Idea Lonnie,
You, The Namek and LWTB have all done great so far!
When Pix said he was going to do a tutorial I started to mess with the materials to see if I could figure it out. Now, after reading this challenge thread I really had to sit down and get into it. This is my first real stab at it… I used a doubleshader material with most of the effect coming from the diffuse, noise, and bump sliders.
This is a difficult effect to mimic!
Take care all,
Michael
