thx xada,
Thx rasmusW yeah it’s still an early wip there still has a lot to be changed
Thx Undoz, all of the characters are made using your material man it’s really great!
Here is a bit of the concept behind it:
When I think of tribes I think of being proud. This was my starting point. I didn’t want it to be too serious so I thought I would go for a cartoony-style.
A silly face alone wouldnt do the trick though so I went online looking for inspiration on the THU page. Which I found in a comment of a photo.
The photo showed a few speakers of the previous THU just sitting at a table in the sun. The comment was that they were all masters in different skills and styles.
this inspired me because this is what I also like about challenges: People with different skills and styles come together to join a challenge.
This is what I wanted to represent in this picture. Different kind of people travelling along on the same journey leading eventually to the festival and
by doing so creating a tribe on its own. The different type of characters represent the different styles. The whole tribe is a happy parade.
All a long the way they are being seen by different anonymous spectators. The yellow fireflies-men which are the online spectators following the challenge.
And for inspiration well it does comes from everywhere a bit I try to let it evolve a bit during the creation. Some inspiration comes from the sculpting some of the sketching.
I don’t think everybody gets all the concepts but that’s ok. Here are some explained a bit more:
I just finished braking bad and had seen a lot of likeness studies of Walter so I thought it would be funny to have him cooking on the back of the horse.
The two girls on the dragon are based a bit on my daughters one is Lux (light) and has a glowing crown and fluorescent light the other is Lotus based on the flower,
she has petals of a lotus flower as hair.
There is a sci-fi shooter on the back of the horse but I didn’t want him to come over to aggresive so I made him shoot soapbubbles in the shapes of hearts.
Hope this explains it a bit and thx again for the material
Thanks for the description! It’s great to hear your thought process and it makes it even more awesome

She was called “Frau Martin”. I met her when I was six.
Two years later my opinion about school…well changed.
congrats! really nice job overall, fun character
very cool character
Awesome work mate. Love the teacher character.
I suggest you 3D print it. It would make a nice model.
Thx for the comments really appreciate it
Well I was actually thinking of printing the last character because he is thicker but I might as well asked around for the angry teacher. Will see how it goes. If it works I’ll post some pics here
A while back I was asked to join the gomonsterproject. The Monster Project Kids draw monsters. Artists from all over the world recreate them in their own styles. Magic for all!
I loved the idea so I joined. Little did I know I had only one month to create it. ( besides full-time job, kids, daily routine tasks… ).
I had to write a letter to the creator of the monster about the whole progress. The concept artist for this monster is Leonard R. and so this letter is addressed to him.
