THx for the comments guys! I am not sure what you mean with glowing effect but the scene is rendered in Vray and some compositing was done in Photoshop
Here is the final image and a clay render of it. and also an angry character which didn’t make it in the final image
for more info about the concept check out my official entry

Absolutely stunning, love the final composition!

Magical! This should be printed huge to really be able to see all the details. I also love the guy who didn’t make the cut. He should get his own story!

Amazing work! Really cool characters and final image!:+1:

Wow I am truly honoured to be on the Top row!

LynneMitchell well he might pop up in the next one

Molossus.
Since I am young I like comics. Some of the most impressive ones were made by French or Belgian artists.
Pure fantasy.
Now, after some decades, it seems to be still the same, just the tools have changed.
Very well deserved top row - now I will continue my bath in this most lovely scene.

Thank you very much for sharing.

Wow!!Really i impressed. I like this final image and clay render of it. wonderful work.:sunglasses:

Amazing work! :+1:

Congrats on TR Patrick, keep it up!

Much deserved top row - a splendorous scene popping with delights.

This may be my favorite scene ever. What an amazing job and congrats on your work.

I can not believe all of this is done by a single person. JUST AWESOOOOME!!! Love your work, such a talented artist

Thx guys for all the kind words! My apologies for the late reply but didn’t want to comment without a small workflow :). Thinking back over the project I think speed was the key element for this image.
For the project I started from day one of the challenge, 4 march, till the 18 of may because it had to render :). I have a full time and two small kids so I think I could spend max 2-3 hours a day on it. Sometimes none :(.
So that would have been 85 days times 2-3 so I guess around 170-255 hours O-O. I lost quiet some time on character/rigs that didn’t make it and I never used vray (althought the switch turned out easier than expected).
That’s why I thought I share some speed tricks that helped me speed up my workflow. Most of you guys probably know them but for beginner it might be useful. Part 1 are the hotkeys I use, part Two the interface I use
and the third part and last part are how I did all the geo for the image. I posted also the links to the various brushes materials underneath. If there are questions or comments please let me know.
Hope this helps someone

Abolutely perfect!!! love the style and way of working!

hahah… she’s great. overall gesture and style looks great. only thing bugging me is her hands. they don’t seem to have the same feel. maybe there is something about the size of them too. dunno (personal prefs i guess).
looking forward for more.

Wow, this is fantastic, Patrick. Love everything about it! It’s so refreshing to see works like this.
What’s the inspiration for this illustration? How did you came up with it.
