Outstanding stuff!!! It’s nice to see the impressionistic side of what ZBrush can do and see the artists expression they given with PaintStop. In a way it removes the digital feeling a bit that 3d has and shows the unique feeling the artist expresses.

I totally sympathize. I’ve puzzled over why some people spend weeks making detailed 3D and then having only a 2D rendered image to show for it. I’ve actually questioned this before on these forums. Some of my first posts were motivated by my confusion over why we’re spending so much time using 3D to create 2D images. I wanted to see that cool 3D stuff in 3D!.
I’m sure Michelangelo wouldn’t have sculpted the David statue if he knew people would only ever see his statue in 2D. He would’ve saved himself a lot of time and painted it instead!.
There is a lot of ZBrush users that work in the games industry where realism sells. I myself love seeing realistic 3D environments and so I totally see the point of their work.
There is still some 2D imagery that I appreciate and see the point of. And like you I’ve also considered going back to creating simple imagery that’s more about the ideas rather than the realism.
PMRRRI: great start, looking forward to seeing the updates!
Spaceman: great doodle!

here is a little photoshop work(brightness, contrast),
Sweeet Romil! Thanks for sharing!
heres a quick yoda sketch i stared… i will probably play with its some more. used referance, but wanted to skip on using the tracing paper
even if its not a photo edit, its a paint over. the skill of doing it indirectly and doing it on top are completely different and this is what distinguishes a real artist from the rest.
sorry, but its still shouldnt be on the top row.
Thanks Etcher
which one the frame or the doodle:lol:
i disagree mr. warpy :p. its true that a real artist can do it from scratch but if that same artist does some indirect paintover to save precious time than i say its A-OK as long as he is able to do it without that help. there are alot of other 2d related works that require the knowledge of art principles and drawing skills that an untrained artist won’t be able to do so he will be limited to this type of work (paintovers). my point is, its not the tools or technique, but the quality of style and personality that an artist shows.
i honestly dont think he had a deadline… i will even bet that his indirect approach will lack the finish this paintover has.
i look forward to more gallery entries, and hope that the discussion of “what is art” would continue here :
