painting methods - let´s paint together and have fun (page 3)

wow ed, those colors wonderful ! i try your fibrre brush method thats interesting too…

yes michael, lets agree that 3d models are allowed for the “sketching” process. its easier to get started. only thing is it should be painted to get the resulting image …
mr rupert looks a little afraid or does he just feel cold ?

i started to try making a painting in classical method.

  1. painted background on dark yellow with shading enhancer, and scetched form with zscetcher.
  2. put in first colors to define forms
  3. put in darker shades for shadows
  4. starrted working on details, corrected hand, but still i think its not good…

now i am kind of stuck, i try to paint the sword but it looks more like ice than like metal. how could i do metall ? also, i want the dark blue cloth look like made of rough linen. how can i achieve that ? anyway thats how far i got… will update soon…

Hi Kokoro I love this type of painting, I feel pleasure to see all the magnific production that have been stimulated in this topic, now Im in “deformation palette period”(you know the MNC¡¡) but be sure that I like a lot your style an as soon as possible I will need your help to learn from you¡¡¡
Congratulations to you and all the guys have posted here¡¡¡¡

Hi Kokoro and co., this thread’s inspired me to paint up this pic I started using Southern’s Zketcher script. It’s Prince Zelf, coming atcha.

I also made use of the transparent layered docs that Pixolator provided a while back (you can find 'em on a thread by Jaycephus, I think). I recommend using them as you can directly colour over your sketch without messing it up, in a similar fashion to Photoshop, etc). Once I blocked in the basic colours, I merged the layers for blending. This image is still wip so I’ll be updating till it’s done.

Nice one, G! :+1: :sunglasses: :+1:
Great to see you posting here, and also nice to see your painting style…(And thanks for adding the useful info on your method…That’s what will make this a useful reference thread for those who want to learn painting in ZBrush!)

Cheers, Rob! :sunglasses:

Thanks SC, you’re welcome. I found that link:

Hi all again for digital painting !
Take a look at this another Master
for Pdf Tutorials about his technic for painting incredible trees and other things
(valuable too in Zbrush)
For trees you have an example in the tut of Zspheres (inside the prog!)
After modeling your tree, just apply the same technic like the Master
Have happy Zbrush digital painting!
Pilou

Thanks Pilou for the link, it really beutiful and the four tutorials looks great¡¡¡

Hell Ed, We’re just getting going here…
Don’t bail on me now, Bud!

I think the underlying blue tone you got in first thing gives you some real opportunities here for a fantastic build-up of skin tone, and the eyes are becoming magical…Stick with this mysterious, and beautiful lady…I want to see the end of the journey! :+1:

J. that’s a really nice painting…I like the anime, but something else feel…

You guys are making me guilty with all the great work you’re posting, so I will be starting a painting here, and I’ll be posting each step in order, starting with a background, and ending with a completed painting…It will be a cityscape, either at dusk or at night, and you’ll see the entire process I use. Thank you all for the wonderful thread, and the educational works, and innovative approaches. I’ll be joining you within a day or so! :+1: :sunglasses:

(And you keep at it Ed, or I’ll haunt you! :+1: )

“One thing we should maybe agree to is that you can use 3D models, as long as a render is used as the basis for a finished image?”
quote from here,
what is a render?
is there any version of the sketching script that will work with a demo version
what is bump viewer material?
EDIT:I thought the Zbrush Pencil Case didn’t work with the demo. I understood about rendering, but assumed a render was something different, since rendering is something that images always need.
sorry about the extra posts.

Hi Reyd
The Script of Glen Works fine with the Demo Glen Script
I am a demo user! See my post in the Glen Script thread
But you can just use Zbrush
The Glen Script is a facility : It is a program into the program  Fractal indeed
A script can not make more than Zbrush because you can’t creeate new functions
A render is a special program who calculate all parameters lights, colors, shadows etc…
Zbrush has the same : Menu Render/ best render
Bump viewer is a new Material by Aurick who show in grey level the future texture on a volume
(if I good understand, maybe I must return to see :slight_smile:here

Reyd, rendering is setting up lights, and rendering your image…It starts with the render, and lighting panel, and you should have seen it by now if you run the scripts that pop up at the bottom of the page when you load ZBrush…(Starting with the one on the interface, that you can find by going to ZScripts, selecting ‘Load’ and loading the scripts you find, which include ones on the interface… )
I don’t know whether the sketching script will work, but you don’t need a script to sketch in ZBrush anyway…Choose ‘Flat Color’ material, or any other material, go to ‘Layer’ and select fill, choose a brush, an Alpha, a colour, and sketch, paint, draw, or whatever…
When you’re done go to the render panel and render your image. After, go to the Document panel, select export, and name your image, followed by saving…You will need to convert it to a JPG or GIF format to upload it to the forum… :+1:
