Very different, Mealea, but very beautiful.
slocik: Looks like a dildo ;f
Never buy sex toys from Poland
@Slocik:
Thats because you are looking at it from the wrong angle, try taking it out of your mouth and sit down on it instead!
GRIN!
@Jan:
Thanks!
@Jack:
Why not?!?!
They kicked the Soviet Union out, theres no telling what they are capable of!
For quite similar reasons I never liked symbolism and anatomy.
They both misleading in this art world.
In fact, if I like to, everything around can be expressed as the two more obvious symbols of male and female. Everything.
See the black holes in the universe :lol:
@mealea,
In this thread, Iâm also having fun, sometimes lot of laugh. A hug.
In fact, if I like to, everything around can be expressed as the two more obvious symbols of male and female.
No kidding! Even pipes have male and female joins.
Computers, I hear, run with zillions of tiny on/off thingies. I wonder which sex is âonâ and which is âoff.â
@megacal
Sorry, I donât see caustics on your posted examples. Only reflections.
Caustics are another animal.
Add a prism. (an extruded triangle). Add one only sun or other light. Expect to see what a real-world prism does.
Using just a glass bsdf you wonât see it. Just a black shadow.
There are workarounds (simple or long noodles setups) though. Fake or physically correct.
Ok, thanks michalis! I thought the transmitted light on the surface of the
floor was caustics, but I see the difference now.
Interesting tutorials about lighting
It is for cycles but certainly can be applied to any physically correct renderer.
Caustics are those lovely patterns you see on the sand under the water at the beach, or at least thatâs one example.
That Blenders glass does not do this shouldnât be any surprise to me, but it was and is.
The reason that everything can be attributed to sex is because we have three main drives:
Eat - Can I eat this?
Sleep - Can I sleep here and not be eaten?
Screw - Is this something I can screw without getting eaten?
Since screwing is our third most important part of life, and the only one of the three that we can technically do without we tend to look at it more than one would think is strictly necessary and foist off all sorts of ideas on each other about what it means. It doesnât mean anything, itâs just a built in thing developed over billions of years to keep us from failing to reproduce.
This doesnât make it less fun, but since that thing I drew was part of a wall, and not a dildo it becomes humor, and thatâs the best part! We can take built in biological features that are hardwired into our systems and warp them into all sorts of stuff that they are not. A dildo does not help us propagate. If anything it replaces what does, and since so many potential mates who have been replaced by dildos donât get to breed, the dildo is clearly the superior creature. Evolution at its finest. The common dildo is the evolutionary successor to the religious fanatic, the uptight, the ugly (sometimes), and the excessively introverted.
Now there are vibrators, buttplugs and something called a fleshlight which I suspect works about as well for lighting things as Blenders glass does for distorting that light. This brings up the subject of the special theory of relativity and the speed of flesh. Would you go blind if I pointed a fleshlight at your face and hit the on switch? If a man is traveling at 99.99% of the speed of flesh and points a fleshlight at his lapâŠ
OpppsâŠ
I can hear Aurickâs blood beginning to froth.
But I digressâŠ
Oh my how I digressâŠ
What the hell was I doing?!?!
Oh yah, caustics.
Interesting tutorials about lighting

This is interesting, and itâs what I was trying to do sort of⊠it just didnât work, and I ran out of time.

BRAVO!!
Actually its not what I was trying to do⊠its totaly diferent, but this method does work, where as what I was doing does not.
The problem is that what he is doing in the tutorial is limiting the light, Im trying to change it, and thatâs where caustics and stuff come in.
When one tries to do something with Blender and every single thing becomes a gigantic project in and of itself it simply isnât worth it.
You mentioned a prism Michalis, and thats a perfect example: a prism does not work because itâs not being rendered with any sort of accuracy, physical or otherwise, as you said, lots of tricks and hacks will make things that look like itâs a prism, but what if you want it to move? If I move a light and the prism remains stationary I have to do some sickening amount of math to move the âhackâ, what if everything is in motion?
Multiple Importance SamplingâŠ
yayâŠ
Now I have to learn about thatâŠ
Hi PFC!!!
What are you bravo-ing about?!?!
hehehe!!!
I have my suspicionsâŠ
@Mealea,
The problem with real caustics is the render times.
A scene full of caustics will become noisy, full of fireflies and will take a day or more to render.
BTW you can easily animate fake caustics. These are basically projectors (spots) and can be linked to other objects. (make parent).
@Michalis:
I know, I have been reading about it for a couple of days now⊠incidentally while KeyShot renders.
I dont want to fake it for a bunch of reasons, for one thing faking it doesnt work for what I am going to do, and for another, faking it is for things like poser and daz, I want to make actual stuff that can be used in a render engine, animation, game engines and simulations. Thatâs why I made the whole light instead of making an alpha or something.
The fact that KeyShot does this stuff is useful, I can see how it will look when I can use something better, and itâs also fun, but not being able to do it in Blender just adds to the list of things that I canât do in Blender.
Blender has volumetric lighting but no caustics, Keyshot has caustics but no volumetric lighting, these tools are getting on my nerves!
michalis,
thanks for the link to Gleb Alexandrovâs site, CreativeShrimpâŠexcellent info.
mealea,
yeah, I donât want to fake it eitherâŠthe real deal or no deal.
re: causticsâŠtoo bad Blender Cycles doesnât do itâŠI donât know why.
If it was possible, it seems they would have by now. Coding is a dark art
to meâŠsmoke, mirrors, incantations, "Eye of newt, âEye of newt and toe of frogâŠâ,
and I donât know what the fly-in-the-ointment is for Cycles + caustics is.
Iâm going to try caustics in OctaneRender, LuxRender, and C4Dr11/AR3 instead.
Use the best tool for the job. :)
Speaking of tools, LOL!, I sent my brother an image I did using ZBrush & VUE,
saying, âTrying to get that massive-Engineer-ship-in-Prometheus-look.â
He replied, âIt does appear to have a massive boner.â
Must have been a Freudian ship.
Blender will have it, itâs just a matter of waiting⊠I guess it sort of does have it now but it requires a lot of messing with stuff and knowing what to mess with in the first place.
Tell your brother its a mushroom.
âBlender will have it, itâs just a matter of waitingâŠâ
Iâm not waiting, but will be happy to see it when itâs part of Cycles
out-of-the-box.
âTell your brother its a mushroom.â
Right!
