Great work and very ispiring. Thanks for sharing!
Finally…!!
i like those previous ones they look like mayan glyphs…
Im going to cheat here and answer this all at once, Im on someone elses computer and its very hard to type…
Thank you guys very much, very very much actually.
Yesterday I got back from working and discovered that my computer had died, I have ordered a new motherboard as a good friend who knows these things says that its going to be a lot cheaper and that everything SHOULD be fine…
PFC:
That song is delightful and its stuck in my head now and will be I hope forever, THANK YOU.
I miss you guys and if all goes wel I should be back up and running in a couple of weeks, the new motherboard is currently on its way here from China…
This is like having my thumbs cut off…
Wish me luck, if my hard dives are cooked I will have lost everything I have made in the last maybe three years…
I do wish the VERY best of luck…AND, please…PLEASE back up things to duplicate drives and/or DVD on the next round!!!
It’s amazingly cheap to do…you can set up an automatic archive routine for critical folders and a terabyte goes for less than $100 (US) these days. DVDs are less than $1 a piece…so its really much easier to be safe than it was 5-10 years ago.
have to agree here , its amazing what you feel like when the computer gets taken away … oooo… the outside world… oooo…
back up , back up and back up some more…
Great stuff!
Lol I’ve been going a little goofy over panel loops myself. Man I Can’t get enough. It’s sort of like. "da di da di da di da Oh look I made a flower…PANEL LOOPS!!
Keep it coming your enthusiasm is infectious

Hi MhueD!
I do back things up… the worry is that what I back up to was attached when what ever happened did what ever it was… My backup is a two TB USB drive, I love it… I hope…
Its horrible isn’t it?
I think its going to be ok though, more below on that…
Yes… the outside world… I think that is where that spam came from…
Hi J!
GRIN!!!
Thank you!
It is very fun isn’t it? I do like my methods better so far but I think Panel loops will be improving dramatically soon, Pixo knows how to perfect stuff quickly.
So here is where I’m at I think…
A good friend has dismantled my laptop completely and it looks like the motherboard cooked it self, its got blown fuses and stuff. We think my hard drives are ok and THAT is a wonderful thing.
So…
We ordered a new motherboard, its coming from China and has gotten as far as Tennessee as of yesterday morning, if all goes according to my glorious plan I should be back up and running within the week…
If not and its broken I’m going to buy a monster of a laptop and that will take a while, its a lot to consider and will likely be a lot of money.
I love the lot of you people and despite not seeming to be in your galleries I am in them and you are ALL doing AMAZING THINGS!
I would respond more but I am having to borrow computer time from other people…BLAH…
Cheers everyone!

PFC:
I am memorizing the song you sent me, it makes me VERY happy, thank you.
Just be VERY VERY careful changing out the CPU, one broken pin and its knackered… good luck…
I know… and it came out fine and went in fine…
Thank you Frenchy!
GRIN!!!
So…
The new mother board didn’t work, it changed things a little but after about ten seconds my computer turns off… I can get various menus and see the bios stuff but then BOOM off it goes.
So now it will be a long process of getting a new computer…
Do you guys know how to take the hard drive out of a laptop and make it into an external drive, preferably usb?
I have some things backed up on my external, but nothing from after the release of 4R5…
I am shockingly depressed, I think I am in love with ZBrush…
CRAPCRAPCRAP!!!
When I first heard you were going to swap the MB, I was going to suggest you just take out the HD.
PC’s are so cheap now… but reinstalling the software will be a pain.
oh yeah, just look at the HD enclosures from that link… ignore the PC Tower cases used for building your own PC.
you say the motherboard isnt working? can you describe whats happening? if the comp is just switching itself off it could be bad ram… as far as the hard drive goes is it sata or ide? just buy a caddie for the right connection type and it will just slot in.
You checked it with a known good power supply?
Hya Gregg!
Its out… and there is an enclosure on the way so hopefully it will be ok, I have a lot of it backed up but the internal had everything since 4R5 came out and that was getting rather large and fun…
Also thank you for that best buy link, I did some digging on it and found something that looks good which I will plop a link too below…
It was very very sad, I put it in hibernate like I always do and went to work, when I got back it was dead, the LED’s lit up on peripherals but the monitor stayed black and there was no HD activity at all, I turned it off and tried again and nothing, removed the battery and all sorts of other tests I learned from sites on the internet and nothing, deadness…
At that point I decided I was way over my head and called in friends and they declared it was dead as well and we ordered a new mother board, this came up with various menus depending on things like weather we pressed delete, escape and F8 and all that stuff but it turned off after about 10-20 seconds…
the original motherboard had cooked fuses on it, the new one does not (thankfully) and the original had a cake of inaccessible dust on it that may have been the cuprate.
They (Rebecca, Neil’s wife who is an electrician) is now testing various circuits and switches and we have a new CPU to try (Im attempting to be very excited but in reality Im in need of a very strong drink).
Im sure there is more but I have just eaten another fingernail and need to stop spazzig out and think of something else…
Yes, in fact the power supply is running the laptop I am using at the moment which is from 2001 or perhaps older…
Its a bit upsetting, I can type faster than it can put text on the screen and I type slowly…
so… that’s where that stands, Rebecca is tearing into it and installing a new CPU onto the new motherboard and Im wanting to get drunk and eating my fingernails and looking at this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+17.3"+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive+-+Prestige+Silver/7543046.p?id=1218851199437&skuId=7543046#tab=specifications
Does that look like a good system?
Im mostly concerned with the Intel graphics, is that stuff any good? will Sculptris and Blender and gaming engines like it?
Thanks you guys for all the help and stuff, I adore the heck out of you all!
Cheers!

And now a quick update:
The new motherboard didn’t care about the new CPU and it shut off in the same amount of time…
BOTH hard drives are ok and the internal is now in a nice fast USB box, I AM VERY HAPPY!!!
I can stop binge drinking now!
Hic!
Good morning everyone!
three things that will kill a computer : DUST
: HEAT
: POWER SURGES
ive learnt to make sure you vaccum out your case/fans regularly to make sure theres PLENTY of coolin and to buy a UPS for the power supply.!
i am glad that all of this didnt effect the HD “phew”…
Dust IS very possible, there was a big cake of it in a VERY inaccessible place, and that could have done it.
Power is unlikely, I am 100% solar powered and would only get surges when hit by lightning, I don’t think that happened unless it came from well over 200 miles away (I checked and the nearest lightning was VERY far away that day). The thing there is I would have LOTS of other things wrong like blown fuses between the electrical system and the computer, at least I assume I would, that is the whole point of fuses I think.
Heat is also very possible and the main suspect, what I think happened is that I did what I usually do: Closed the lid and went off for work assuming that my computer did what it was supposed to do, which is hibernate If it didn’t hibernate (this has happened once or twice before) it would be on, closed, and heating up that dust cake thing I mentioned.
Having both hard drives working is a wonderful thing, I have all of my stuff and the building f the new computer will be a lot less painful, I have all of the interstitial I have ever used and so it should be just a lot of work as opposed to a lot of work, searching the internet, and remembering what it all was and figuring out where it is.
Also I have ALL of my ZBrush materials, brushes and documents which is a staggeringly large collection of stuff!
I’m still curious about why the new mother board and CPU didn’t work, the ram is good (both sets I tried) and so something nasty happened, maybe its the bios telling it to shut off after 10-20 seconds, I don’t know. It WAS a wonderful computer and I will miss it.
I suppose its incentive to get a newer faster one but I wasn’t planning on doing that till ZBrush out grew the old one.
It was only three years old and its totally dead, the one I’m on now is OVER ten years old and seems unkillable. Its also sort of fun and cute in a way. New stuff dying so fast worries me a lot, this has not been a good experience and its getting VERY expensive.
And now I’m off to look in your thread!
Cheers!

You have inspired me to try out all the features of zbrush even if I don’t know what they do.
About this toshiba you mentioned
Mobile Intel® HD
Don’t buy this computer!
Buy one with a nice nVidia, preferably. ATIs are good too.
I had lot of such issues years ago.
Then I decided to buy expensive only machines.
But I still need some beers at least, sometimes. LOL
