I have done this too and I think its awesome.
If you want totally fluid lines try “From PolyPaint” in the PolyGroups pallet.

Something I have noticed and sent up some questions about is that ZSketch is not compatible with 4R5’s dynamic brush size, if anyone else can confirm this I would be thrilled.

ZSketch is prettily awesome, all brush strokes get their own geometry and polygroups automatically with your sculpting ability you could make some seriously incredible stuff as the topology of everything follows what you do to create the sculpt, the grouploops that result would be amazing and any method you use from there for displacement would be conforming to the topology of your strokes.
I had some nasty trouble with ZSketch with Dynamic Brush Size but I have found that if you turn that off before doing anything else in ZBrush Zsketching works normally.

Don’t fight UV’s there are a bazillion ways of messing with these things, and UV’s are just one.
Look in the PolyGroups Pallet and you will see some stuff like:

  • From Mask. -Draw mask hit this button, again and again
  • Group by Normals.
  • From PolyPaint. -Paint with lots of different colors and hit this button, repeat if needed.
  • Group Visible. Hold down Control and Shift and select different bits of your object and then hit this button, repeat until its interesting.

Try those, they are awesome (Normals is mostly for Primitives I think so try the others first, They are very cool but more complicated).
If you do use UV’s don’t think of them as the things that map how textures are laid out, that just makes them less fun, think of them as semi random line generators.
