New Work.

Thanks Charley! What kind of music to you suppose? … perhaps Baroque.

Here goes another experimental 2.5D work … hope you enjoy it!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays everyone! Another new work … I love how one tool can have so many different looks!

The sword is only as good as the person that wields it…Luv this last one man…Keep mastering these tools, and wielding the sword of creativity…:+1:
Have a Great one, and a Great Year ahead.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Take Care David.:+1:
Glenn

Thanks Glenn! And you do the same my Friend … you are really close with that last speed bag version! Cheers, David

Ok, one last piece before Christmas! Still 2.5D still abstract … but a bit more representational. Good cheer to all! David

Still 2.5D but something similar but a bit different!

now that looks interesting ! great  … are these fibers ? just wondering, since i spent my holiday time with exploring fibers in zbrush, on a quite different route though… i like the subtle colorvariations you obtained

@kokoro:

No, this is hair from C4D converted to geometry and imported to Zbrush and then the tool was used with several different material settings as a 2.5D brush, also used a torus as a 2.5D brush as well. PS for some post work. If you go back through my postings you will see some early hair from C4D tests.

Cheers, David

Nice one.
I know the trick with hair importing. Similar using blender.
The best solution for zb rendering, for the moment.

I really like your last 15 or so works…Am jealus in the extreme…Could you, would you, go into some detail about your process ?
As I am very interested at how you arrived at such marvelous shapes ands feelings … aka Blue ( Deke )

Hi Deke,

Glad to share with you … it’s not so complex. It’s more experimentation! I often go through some tool I have made and saved in the past … often very simple ones work best (i am enclosing a few). sometimes I bring in the tool and work on it a bit in 3D mode, then I use that tool as a 2.5D brush. I achieve variety by changing materials and also by changing the “stroke” type … drag rectangle lets me bring in the tool at whatever size i want and rotate it as I like I can also place it and use transpose for further manipulation. Then it is dropped to the canvas, I bring more of the same tool in with another material and perhaps this time I use a different stroke type ( spray, freehand, conical, radial) they all differ in placement and depth as well, I also change the draw size and sometimes the focal shift (you can of course mix and match many different tools as well) Once all the “brushes” are dropped to the canvas you cannot use 3D tool anymore … but 2.5D tools are available … I mostly use snakehook Brush with a large draw size and and the sphere brush, often to fill in some empty areas. It is odd but sometimes the Best Render gives too many artifacts and no render (actually the Preview Render) gives better results. Then I do quite of post in Photoshop. I hope this helps a bit … after the New Year I will try and make a video tutorial If anyone is interested. Let me know if you have any problems/questions.

Cheers,
David

Hi Deke,

Would that make you an Aries as well? Are you still in the Medical field? I am a native New Yorker and moved to Brooklyn about eight years ago, before that I always lived in Manhattan. Got to take out my dog Bianca now. Cheers, David

I hope everyone had a nice Holiday! I have gone back to my “garage” for some more parts for this 2.5D image. I hope you enjoy it! Cheers, David

This last piece is Great David…Luv the composition, mood the monotone color creates and the subject…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Maybe there is an old clock with your name on it lurking somewhere within that trash pile that you are rummaging through…Might make a nice element in one of your future bike parts scenes…Just a thought that crossed my mind as i’m enjoying this last piece of yours…
Keep going…A real pleasure seeing your imagination at work and play…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Thanks so much … glad you enjoyed this one! I will rummage around and see what I can come up with, clock parts sounds like a good idea!
