Hey monster maker! Just re -read your last post …if you were asking how to ‘flop’ or reverse a hand to make the other-there is a ‘mirror’ button in the deformation palette - that will do it.

Herdmann , Thanks I tried that beforeI posted the question and got a message;note this functon can not be applied to a mesh withmultiple sub devisions levils, so I switched sdiv to 1 a basically nothing happened I tried mirror again and got the same message.I figure it’s probably the wayI made the model it was with the multimarker tool then a unified skin thing. any suggestions . I pushed a bunch of buttons and somehow got it to flop but I could see through it . When I rotated it I couldn’t tell which way it was facing. Then it crashed.
I have another dumb question for anyone that is willing to help .
I started this skull model this morning I don’t want any material between the cheekbone and the brain case as marked in the attatched image. I know that using zcut with a 3d shape you can do this. do i have to make a 3d shape that perfectly replecates the shape i want cut? is there another way? I’m having trouble uploading the image I’ll try again in a moment
The Tool > Deformation > Mirror button only works on objects that have one level of subdivision.
If you want to mirror your hand and keep your lower levels of detail, you would have to go to your highest level of detail, delete the lower levels (Tool > Geometry > Del Lower) , mirror your hand (Tool > Deformation > Mirror ), then Reconstruct Subdiv Surface (Tool > Geometry > Reconstruct Subdiv) to get your lower detail levels back.

ZCut only works on a model after it has been snapshot (converted to pixols). You will not be able to rotate the model after. My recommendation would be to use ZSpheres to block out a shape of head and jawbones. You can then create an adaptive skin and use Multi-Resolution editing to refine the basic block model into the detailed shape that you want.
Regarding mirroring, switching to subdivision level 1 is not the same as having a model with no subdivision levels. If you wish to mirror your model you would need to delete the lower subdivision levels so that the highest is the only one left. You could then mirror it.
For some reason I can’t seem to upload the skull image.First the image wouldn"t show up in the folder so I restarted now I get a message that safari won’t let me upload it. I 'll try later .I’ll go back to zbrushing.
Oh ya to answer the questions about the hair on karloff. Yes it was modeled but I wasn’t crazy about how it looked so I did a little photoshop work on it. There is no fiber brush work because I can’t get the control I want yet.
Creiton Tull ,you must be a Chaney jr. fan. Yes I’m a geek fan boy. I admit it
I especially love the old universal monster movies
Hi Monstermaker, I sure hope you plan to do somemore Classic Monsters. 50.
Todays work so far, Model is still a work in progress. Thanks for the answer to my question I’ll just paint it dark in there
I have to say you are too good to be true…I hope you ar emaking a living at this? My question on the skulls…3d sphere or Zsphere…and how did you do the teeth? Are they multimarked into place after modeling the skull? Outstanding work. It’s been a pleasure getting notification of your postings each time. Truly.
Ron
…wow!
you seem very experienced… simply stunning skull!
greets
froyd
Another two thumbs way up! You need a web page to show all of your other physical works. Your prior experiences have definately shown through to your new medium. Of course its never painless.
Aaron showed me this today, and I must say, It’s great. I’m glad you are on the computer.
Ron. I used zspheres. Big one for the head 3 smaller ones pushed in for the eyes and nose. for the teeth I did what the guy who did the cool angler fish in the quick time video did ,painted an alpha mask inverted it and moved them out. It didn’t work very well I spent too much time trying to clean them up and not very successfully. In fact that is why he has no front teeth. I was planning on doing the multimarker deal for them. I spent about 4hours modeling it .It would have taken less time but I did a really dumb thing.I did some modeling ,did a save as, modeled for about an hour lots of detail especially on the underside thought It’s time to save again, so did save as again, when it asked me if I wanted to replace the existing model with this new one I mistakenly pushed no and lost all of that work. what a jerk I just had to laugh. Glad you like it.
I have another question for anyone, when I export an image form documents into ps they are saved at 72 dpi. can I export at a higher rez like say, 300dpi?
You got some excellent modeling skills.
Get this zscript to create a document with the dpi you need. Works well on Z2.
Be aware though that Zbrush has a limit on the size of your documents of 4096 by 4096 pixels which will print an image of 13.65 by 13.65 at 300 dpi.
did this after dinner . Well I guess I’ll have to send it in the morning keep getting a message that safari could not load any data from this location, Too bad I’ll try one more time
Iv gota say this seems to good to be true! I just said to my self when I saw the skull “No way”. The detail, texture is just top notch please tell me you have been doing this for 5 years in the industry if not you should be. Would love to see a zscript some time to see your workflow.
Awesome skull, like the others I admire your skill…it takes a master to so quickly master an organic modeller and proof is in the pudding. I think you are also proof that it is far more intuitive a program than traditional modellers are willing to give it credit for.
anyway…download Psnap by Svengali…its in my signature it allows you to quickly…one button save your model in incremental numbers so you can’t accidently overwrite or underwrite hahaha. Other awesome useful scripts are in my sig too…when ya got a second check out the links to decide what ya think ya find useful…and if ya find one ya might like give the fella that created it a big hello.
instead of safari…or as an alternative try firefox. it might be a bit more consistant.
Great skull , Monstermaker …how did you do the zygomatic…i did a skull in Zbrush, with Zspheres, but had to use Silo to “cut” the zygomatic arch loose from the skull !
jantim
Inspirational work there, monstermaker small_orange_diamond
Love to see some ZScript/workflow notes, and even a little knowledge of your ‘industry’ background also would be interesting, too?
So nice to see somebody take to a software package ‘like a duck to water’
Your comments about your previous (to ZB) modelling experience are most
encouraging Excellent
Atwooki
aminuts, sorry to be so dumb but, what is a signature?
Rafael Hernandes ,I’ll try to get your zscript what do I do after that , in other words how do I use a zscript , I’m new to all of this.
tez, and artwooki, I’m not in the 3d industry haven’t even been doing this for five weeks let alone five years. I’m not even sure what a zscript is and I have no idea how to make one.
Jantim,The zygomatic arch isn’t cut, infact I asked a question about how to do that tried to post an image and it didn’t work then either . What I did is just pushed the ,what do you call it digital clay?, as far in as I could from the top and botton view and painted it dark.
Am I doing this right is there a way to answer individual questions better?
Damn… Your sckull is superb…
I ever did one, for a speed modeling sesssion. But its not so precise than your… I love your work. Hope to see more…
DAMNED! Another Zkiller in the place… Times are hards…
PS : If found A good solution to work with mutiple objects like eyes and tooth in the same mesh, easy to use, I need to test it, and I will post more infos later
