Hi, I’m new to ZBrush and I’m loving it. I got it about 3 weeks ago. The first time I played with it, I just grabbed a tool played with it for a while to see what it could do, that alone was a lot of fun. Moving on the next day I watched a zscript on modeling a simple head, I didn’t totally understand it, but it was enough for me to model a decent skull. Finally broke down and joined ZBrush central so I could get the practical guide. Sort of followed the warrior turorial and made this Frankenstein’s Monster, after only having ZBrush for less than two weeks. I probably shouldn"t have tackeled a likeness for my first head model but I think its not a bad start. I figure that I can go back and tweak the likeness more at a later date. Anyways I just wanted to say that I love this program. I have played with some other 3d programs before and didn’t it was possible to model organic shapes. ZBrush is so much like sculpting I think it’s just great! I can’t wait to fully understand how to use it. I just wanted to thank whoever made this wonderful programand say how much I love it!
great first post, hell it would be great if it were your 100th post, and with a screen name like that you will be right at home here at monster central, great likeness
on frankie
ps and whoever made this program,i think a.k.a pixolator might of had

This is great, so good it looks like a tinted photograph so I can’t think of any comments to make other than brilliant work.
There’s really not so much to say: your work is sensational, hope to see more soon!!!
Ciao, Angelo
Karloff would have been VERY pleased!
Keep pushin’ those Pixols:D
Ah, the memories…
Love the pic…One of the movie greats of all times…and you captured his essence perfectly…so perfect that I dont really see any flaws to C and C…it is obvious that you have modeled alot before zbrush…no one opens the program and models at this level with lighting, mesh, texturing etc without being well versed in this area. I would love to hear your background in art and what other programs you have worked in. You past knowledge definitely has given you a great advantage in your obvious level of skills and learning curve. I anxiously look forward to more of your works. The likeness in this model is uncanny.
kudos,
Ron

Great first project!! I can only dream that my 5000th would look have as good!!
Keep on learning zbrush, can’t wait to see what ya do next!!
Ron: that first frankenstein pic is quite eery and reminds me of the old death masks they used to make…very cool!
Thanks for the nice words. I have very little 3d modeling background,I’ve played with lightwave a little, but didn’t model anything organic made some cool eyes and some brain shaped blobs with tenticals thats about it. I have been sculpting, you know with clay, and painting since I was a kid, and that was a long time ago. I love photoshop and have been using it since 1.0. I also play with and love aftereffects but, ZBrush is my new toy and I’m having so much fun with it. I have lots of questions though there is so much that I don’t understand .For example where can I get more info on the materials I want a good base flesh material what I didn’t like about the one in the warrior tutorial was the color bump deal when I would paint more colors to break up the flesh it would add bumps that I didn’t want. I suppose that I could turn that part off. Basically I want a better understanding of how they work. Thanks, Here is another image it’s a work in progress I’m still modeling it. Karloff again
Looks like your sculpting skills transfer well into this application.
Wonderful
Beautiful modelling! Where can we see some of your clay work?

“Looks great !” monstermaker…this program is made for people just like you !
There is no other program that lets someone make this kind of work in just three weeks !
I’m sure your gonna post great things with Zbrush

Good work! Go on!
Here are some skinmaterials I like to use. Skin1 is dull, 2 is more glossy and 3 is used for highlights. Use them together.skinmat.zip (38.6 KB)
